Packers Sticking With Mason Crosby
6 years agoThe Green Bay Packers don't appear to be exploring other kicking options after kicker Mason Crosby missed four field goals and an extra point in the Week 5 loss to the Lions. "He's got to make those kicks. He's a proven highly successful kicker, and I believe in him but he's got to make those kicks. It's a different game at halftime (if he makes those three first-half) kicks," head coach Mike McCarthy said. The veteran booter has made only 11 of his 16 field goal tries this year and has also missed two of 10 extra-point tries. If he doesn't turn it around immediately, Green Bay might have no choice but to cut him. It'd be wise to avoid the 34-year-old for now.

Mason Crosby - Week 1 Outlook for Fantasy Football
3 years agoGreen Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby will travel to Minnesota to open the regular season. The 38-year-old was out this preseason due to having knee surgery. However, he was activated off the PUP on August 30th and is ready for Week 1. Crosby was the 15th overall fantasy kicker last season and was a bit inconsistent for fantasy managers. However, the veteran is in a favorable matchup this weekend against the Vikings. With Green Bay potentially having trouble getting into the end zone without Davante Adams and Allen Lazard (ankle) being listed as doubtful, Crosby could be in line for multiple field goal attempts. With a 47-point over/under, Crosby is a high-upside, low-floor fantasy option in Week 1.

Mason Crosby Activated From PUP List
3 years agoThe Green Bay Packers activated kicker Mason Crosby (knee) from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Tuesday after he missed all of training camp after having offseason knee surgery. Crosby will be ready for Week 1 and will kick in his 242nd straight regular season game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 11. The Packers also waived kicker Ramiz Ahmed. Crosby will likely go undrafted in most 12-team leagues in a Green Bay offense that's expected to take a step back in 2022 without All-Pro receiver Davante Adams. The 37-year-old made only 73.5 percent of his 34 field-goal attempts in 17 regular season games last year, and he missed only two of his 51 extra-point attempts.

Packers Expected To Keep Mason Crosby
3 years agoIt appears that the Green Bay Packers will keep kicker Mason Crosby in 2022. Crosby is scheduled to make $3.4 million with a salary cap charge of $4.735 million in 2022, and there has been no change in his status or contract, according to a source. The 37-year-old veteran had a rough 2021 season in Green Bay, making only 73.5% of his 34 field-goal attempts over 17 regular season games. He was only able to make nine of his 13 tries from 30-39 yards, and the Packers also have kickers J.J. Molson and Dominik Eberle waiting in the wings if Crosby struggles again in 2022. Crosby could have some streaming fantasy appeal if he can turn things around, but he's on the hot seat in Green Bay.

Packers Not Ready To Move On From Mason Crosby?
3 years agoGreen Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst didn't sound ready to move on from veteran kicker Mason Crosby during his press conference this week. Crosby has a 2022 salary cap number around $4.7 million, and the Packers would free up around $2.4 million by cutting him. He hasn't missed a game since the team drafted him in 2007, but Crosby missed an NFL-high nine kicks among kickers who attempted at least one field goal per game in 2021. He also had a kick blocked in the Divisional Round loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Green Bay recently signed Dominik Eberle, and they also have J.J. Molson on the roster, so Crosby will need to perform if he remains with the team to keep the starting gig.
