2 years agoBoston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas made his presence felt in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the New York Yankees, going 1-for-3 at the plate with a home run, a walk, two RBI, and a stolen base. This is his second home run and first steal for his career. With just 24 major-league at-bats under his belt, the best is certainly to come for the slugger, though fantasy managers in redraft formats don't need to pay him any mind this year. He's a must for keeper and dynasty formats, however, as he has put up a .269/.374/.485 slash line in his minor-league career.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (elbow) threw 31 pitches in 1 1/3 innings in Tuesday's 5-4 loss with Triple-A Durham. Glasnow allowed one run on a hit and two walks with two strikeouts in his second rehab start. The Rays will likely ease Glasnow back into action, given that he is recovering from Tommy John surgery. As such, fantasy managers may not have an opportunity to start Glasnow before the end of the regular season. Either way, they should monitor his rehab outings to get a better idea of when he can be expected back.Source: MiLB.com
2 years agoMinnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa went deep Tuesday night, hitting his 20th home run of the season off Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Kris Bubic in the fifth inning of a 6-3 win. Correa also doubled and drove in three total runs in four at-bats. This is the sixth time in seven full seasons (excluding 2020) that Correa has reached the 20-homer plateau. He has an .820 OPS for the season with 62 runs scored and 57 RBI, and he's slashing a dominant .327/.405/.566 with seven home runs over his last 113 at-bats and 30 games for fantasy managers.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoMinnesota Twins third baseman Gio Urshela reached base in all four of his plate appearances in a 6-3 win over the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, going 3-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. It was his 12th homer of the season and his first since August 12. Urshela now has a six-game hitting streak going with three multi-hit performances in that span. For the season, he's managed a serviceable .745 OPS with 48 runs scored, 54 RBI, and one steal. Urshela isn't a must for fantasy managers, but he's worth rostering during this hot streak.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoMinnesota Twins corner infielder Jose Miranda reached base four times Tuesday, going 2-for-2 with a home run, two walks, two RBI, and a run scored. Miranda now has 15 home runs this season. With a .796 OPS, 38 runs scored, and 63 RBI in 395 plate appearances as a rookie this season, Miranda has been a major contributor for both the Twins and fantasy managers. He has an impressive .321/.446/.528 slash line in 53 at-bats over his last 15 games and should be in lineups across all fantasy formats.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Joe Ryan hadn't allowed a hit through seven innings against the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, but he was not permitted to return to the mound for the eighth inning. Ryan walked two batters and struck out nine on 106 pitches, a number which was deemed too close to his season-high of 110 to continue the no-hit bid. On the season, Ryan has a 3.83 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 133 strikeouts in 129 1/3 innings. He hasn't been the breakout fantasy option many predicted, but he's still put forth a very competent campaign.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoMilwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames reached base four times Tuesday night, going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, a run scored, and two RBI in an 8-4 win against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals. Adames has a five-game hitting streak going and has driven in exactly two runs in each of his last three games. He's slashing .234/.296/.463 this season, which is a bit less impressive than his last few seasons but is still an above-average output. With 28 home runs, five steals, 75 runs scored, and 85 RBI, fantasy managers have to be pleased with his overall performance this year.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Andrew McCutchen had the biggest swing in an 8-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday, hitting a two-run home run off starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery in the fifth inning. McCutchen went 2-for-5 in the game with the homer, a double, and three RBI. He now has 17 homers for the season, including three in his last six games. While he's no longer the slugger he once ways, the 35-year-old has still found a way to contribute for fantasy managers this year with 63 runs scored, 65 RBI, and eight stolen bases.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery had a rare bad outing Tuesday, getting roughed up by the Milwaukee Brewers to the tune of six runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk in five innings. He struck out six batters. This is only the second disappointing performance since coming over to the National League, as Montgomery has a 2.05 ERA in his eight starts after being traded from the New York Yankees. The loss drops his record to 8-4 for the season. Fantasy managers can still count on Montgomery as a solid floor option.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoTexas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien doubled three times Tuesday, coming around to score on each occasion in an 8-7 victory over the Oakland Athletics. It's his second consecutive three-hit game, and Semien now has a .276/.321/.504 slash line with five homers and five steals over his last 30 games. With 22 homers and 24 steals on the season, he's been able to silence any early-season doubters. Semien remains one of the premiere power-speed options in the majors, and his middle-infield eligibility boosts his fantasy value even further.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoTexas Rangers infielder Mark Mathias was one of the surprise stars of Tuesday night's 8-7 victory over the Oakland Athletics, going 3-for-5 at the plate with two home runs, a double, four RBI, and three runs scored. Mathias has just 93 major-league at-bats to his name, but he's flashed some upside with five homers and three steals. As long as Mathias receives the semi-regular playing time he's garnered since mid-August, he'll have some value in deep leagues, though fantasy managers shouldn't expect this type of power going forward.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia was one of several players to have huge offensive outputs in this 8-7 victory over the Oakland Athletics, going 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, two walks, three RBI, and two runs scored. He also stole a base. Garcia now has 25 homers and 24 steals on the year. Garcia has been red-hot in his last five games, with six of his seven hits in 17 at-bats going for extra-base hits. While there will be peaks and valleys to his production, the power-speed upside remains extremely valuable to fantasy managers.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoChicago White Sox relief pitcher Liam Hendriks was credited with his 33rd save of the season Tuesday night, sitting down all three Colorado Rockies he faced. He did not record a strikeout. Hendriks has been successful in his last five save opportunities and has only blown four chances all season. With a 3.18 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 51 innings this year, Hendriks has been somewhat less dominant than any other season since becoming a closer in 2019 for Oakland, but he's still one of the top options in fantasy baseball.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoChicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu reached base three times Tuesday night, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, and two runs scored. It was Abreu's 15th home run of the season. Abreu has been a big reason for Chicago's late-season playoff push, slashing .363/.426/.434 over his past 30 games, though this is his first long ball since August 3. He's hit safely in 16 of his last 17 games and has an .843 OPS with 79 runs scored and 67 RBI for the season.Source: MLB.com
2 years agoChicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez went deep Tuesday, knocking a three-run homer off Chad Kuhl in the first inning of a 4-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies. It was Jimenez's 13th of the season. He went 1-for-3 with a walk in the contest. Jimenez has been outstanding since late July, and he's slashed .350/.445/.610 over his last 30 games in 117 plate appearances. He's riding a seven-game hitting streak with five multi-hit performances in that span. Fantasy managers approaching the end of the season could be riding Jimenez to championships.Source: MLB.com
