2 years agoBrooks Koepka has only played in two events since The Valspar in March. Koepka also recently celebrated a wedding. He hopes to put his attention on The U.S. Open. He finished in fourth place last year at this event where he gained strokes in all key metrics. In 2017 and 2018 he won the U.S Open. Koepka has an excellent history in this major but his current form and lack of tournaments are concerning. He is currently projected to be low-owned and is a risky GPP play. --Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoRory McIlroy successfully defended his Canadian Open championship last week. McIlroy gained strokes in every key metric in Canada, including 5.9 strokes on the green. It was his fourth top-10 finish in five starts. McIlroy now sets his sights on the U.S. Open. He won this event in 2011 at Congressional Country Club. He has played this major very well, recording three top-10s in his last three starts at The U.S. Open. McIlroy figures to be highly owned, but he'll likely be worth the ownership based on how well he is playing.--Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoJordan Spieth was said to have left the range Wednesday afternoon with an illness. If Spieth plays, he appears to have the recipe for a strong U.S. Open this week. Over the last 24 rounds, Spieth ranks fifth in ball-striking, first in strokes gained around the green, and 15th on approach. Spieth ended his nine event run gaining strokes on approach at The Memorial. However, he did gain 5 strokes putting, his most since St. Jude last year. Putting will be crucial this week on these small and slippery surfaces. If Spieth continues his ball-striking and he is comfortable with the putter, he should find himself in with a shot to win on Sunday. --Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoSince his win at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Xander Schauffele hasn't recorded a finish outside the top 18, including a T13 at the PGA Championship. Pairing his recent success with his incredible U.S. Open success, Schauffele is a great option this week. But what kind of success has he had at the U.S. Open? In his five starts in the U.S. Open, Schauffele has never finished outside the top 10. His worst finish came last season, which was a T7, and his best finish came in 2019, when he finished T3. Although Schauffele will have an expensive DFS price, with his current and previous U.S. Open success, he should be considered in all contests this week.--Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoTyrrell Hatton will be making his sixth start in the U.S. Open in his career and is looking to turn the tides on his U.S. Open success. Hatton has missed three of five cuts in his U.S. Open career, including last year's event. Hatton will head into the U.S. Open off a missed cut at the RBC Canadian Open, but he had made his previous nine cuts before that. If Hatton wants to turn his fortunes around at the U.S. Open, it starts off the tee. Hatton is only hitting 55.43% of fairways so far this season, good for 165th on tour. Hatton is also hitting just 61.11% of greens this season, 195th on tour. Although his putting has been fantastic (second on tour), the struggles for Hatton won't change this week if he isn't consistently in the fairway or on the green.--Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoMatt Fitzpatrick is one of the few players who comes into the U.S. Open at The Country Club with any prior success at the venue. Fitzpatrick won the 2013 U.S Amateur at The Country Club, jump starting his professional career in golf. Looking at this season, Fitzpatrick has racked up three top-10 finishes in his last four starts, highlighted by a T2 finish at the Wells Fargo Championship in early May. Although Fitzpatrick is yet to have much success in his career at the U.S. Open, this might be the perfect week for Fitzpatrick. This season Fitzpatrick is hitting well over 64% of fairways, good enough for 40th best on the PGA Tour. Pairing that with the fact Fitzpatrick sits no lower than 25th in the six major strokes gained categories this season, this could be a special week for Fitzpatrick. His DFS price is more than fair and should be considered a steal in this 2022 U.S. Open field. --Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoCameron Smith comes into the 2022 U.S. Open off four straight made cuts, three of those being top-21 finishes. With that said, Smith sits fifth in the FedEx Cup standings heading into this week's event. However, the U.S. Open doesn't set up well for Smith. So far this season, Smith sits 143rd in strokes gained off the tee. A big reason for his poor play off the tee is his inability to consistently hit the fairway. Smith is currently 151st on tour in driving accuracy, hitting just over 56% of fairways. As always, the rough will be thick this week at The Country Club, which doesn't play well for Smith. In his career, Smith only has one finish inside the top 35 at the U.S. Open, and that came way back in 2015. With his very expensive DFS price, Smith is someone to stay away from this week at the U.S. Open.--Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoJon Rahm is looking to become the first person to win back-to-back U.S. Open titles since Brooks Koepka in 2017/2018 this week at The Country Club. Rahm comes into the event in good form, finishing inside the top 10 in two of his last three starts, one of those being a win in the Mexico Open. However, Rahm has had his struggles in major championships so far in 2022. Rahm has yet to finish inside the top 20 in either major so far this season and only has a best finish of T27. However, Rahm has finished inside the top three at the U.S. Open in two of the last three seasons. A very expensive DFS salary will be on Rahm this week, and he would need a top-10 finish to pay it off. Given the circumstances, a top-10 finish this week for Rahm is very attainable.--Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour
