Tyrrell Hatton Teeing It Up In Canada
2 years agoTyrrell Hatton is teeing it up in the RBC Canadian Open this week for the first time in his PGA Tour career. In the event, Hatton will put his made-cut streak on the line, as he hasn't missed a cut in nine-straight starts, dating back to November 2021. Looking back at this week, the field is very top-heavy, lacking depth, which will leave fantasy players looking for value. However, Hatton may be the best value. Priced fairly, Hatton will cost a good amount of DFS salary, but he is priced less than players with less skill. Looking at the run he is on, and his ability, Hatton is worth strong consideration in all contests this week.Source: PGA Tour
Greyson Sigg Hoping June Is Better Than May
2 years agoGreyson Sigg has struggled on the PGA Tour in 2022 but started off May on a promising note. He finished tied for 33rd at the Mexican Open. The American golfer closed that weekend with a 70-68 and had a few chances to shoot even lower. After that, the rest of the month was an exercise in futility. Sigg just could not make enough putts. As a result, he missed three straight cuts. Sigg took a week off after missing the cut (72-73) at the Charles Schwab. He just does not make enough birdies at 3.66 per round to offset his tee-to-green game which loses him 0.234 strokes. The American needs to drain a few putts early to have a chance this week.Source: PGATour.com
Carlos Ortiz Looking To Get His Game Back In Canada
2 years agoCarlos Ortiz has had a rough 2022 season so far. The Mexican golfer has missed seven cuts in all and has not cracked the Top-30 once in 13 PGA tournaments entered. He loses almost a half-stroke overall on the course which ranks 157th on the tour. If that is not bad enough, Ortiz hurts himself further around the green losing 0.396 strokes there (187th). His 151st ranked accuracy when it comes to greens and drives in regulation hurts his ability to score well. It is hard to put rounds together when one is throwing shots away spraying tee shots and approaches. One may want to look elsewhere this week while Ortiz tries to get back to basics. Emiliano Grillo Hard To Recommend At Canadian Open
2 years agoEmiliano Grillo has been somewhat of an enigma in 2022. The Argentinian golfer started poorly at The Sony Open then missed seven out of the next nine cuts after an outside top-50 result at The American Express. Grillo just cannot put a few rounds together or even one sometimes. However, he has found a way to make the cut in four straight tournaments (highest finish a tied for 32nd). Grillo was in a good position to at least finish in the top 20 at The Memorial when he shot a 75 on Sunday. He loses a tenth of a stroke gained overall. That's a frightening number along with his 150th ranked putting (-.204 strokes).Source: PGATour.com
Mackenzie Hughes Could Contend In Canada
2 years agoMackenzie Hughes has been a bit hit-or-miss in 2022 but has a couple of top-five results and did make the cut at last week's Memorial. Though he only finished in a tie for 37th, it was a better showing for the Canadian golfer. Weekends at bigger tournaments have not been kind to Hughes. He keeps shooting too errantly off the tee, which is resulting in a lot of over-par rounds. If he can get close to the green, his approach and putting combine to gain 0.875 strokes. Hughes just has to drive well off the tee and be more accurate than normal. This could be a week where he surprises again.Source: PGATour.com
Shane Lowry A Strong Option At The Canadian Open
2 years agoShane Lowry has had a strong 2022. Lowry finished second at The Honda and then recorded consecutive third-place finishes at The Masters and RBC Heritage. Lowry has excelled tee-to-green this year; he has gained strokes in that metric in eight straight events. Lowry did let down some last week as a high-owned golfer. He finished in 32nd place at The Memorial. He was still able to gain 2.7 strokes tee-to-green and 1.3 on approach. Lowry is a solid option in all formats this week. Source: PGA Tour
Rory Mcllroy To Lean On Past Success This Week
2 years agoRory Mcllroy finally is able to attempt to defend his Canadian Open win from 2019. The event took a two-year hiatus for COVID. While it is a different venue, Mcllroy looks to build on past success at The Canadian Open. Mcllroy has also been in excellent form. After three straight top 10 finishes, he recorded an 18th place finish last week at The Memorial. Mcllroy has now gained strokes tee-to-green in nine straight events. He is a good bet this week to contend again. Source: PGA Tour
Keegan Bradley Could Bounce Back This Week
2 years agoIt was a bit of an off week for Keegan Bradley at the PGA Championship. He didn't miss the cut but did not factor in contention either. Bradley ended up 48th as he did not shoot under par in one single round at Southern Hills. The American golfer finished 11th and 5th in back-to-back weeks (Arnold Palmer and The Players). Combine that with three straight top ten results before the PGA and there is some belief that Bradley could fare pretty well at The Memorial. He could bounce back and be one of those unexpected surprises.Source: PGATour.com
Max Homa Should Get More Positive Results At The Memorial
2 years agoMax Homa has had a nice run of play since his weekend blowup at The Masters in April. His last four tournaments have seen the American golfer win with a few top-25 results to boot. He even fared well at The Players Championship where a final-round 66 nearly put him back into contention. Homa has been great off the tee and approaching greens lately where he has gained just over a full stroke above average. Homa is a top-30 putter on tour and at The Memorial, putts need to drop just often enough. This weekend, -15 might not even be enough to win.Source: PGATour.com
Rickie Fowler Expecting A Wild Ride At The Memorial
2 years agoRickie Fowler dresses outrageous sometimes, but his golf game can be just as erratic. He can easily contend in a tournament one week and miss the cut the next. Lately, Fowler has made three straight cuts, but he did blow up with a 75 during the final round of the Charles Schwab Challenge on Sunday. Fowler was a runner-up at Muirfield Village as recently as 2017. It wouldn't be a stretch for Fowler to rekindle a little magic this weekend. His 310-yard drives and top-20 ability around the greens make him an attractive DFS pick, at the very least.Source: PGATour.com
Jason Day May Not Factor Much Into Memorial Equation
2 years agoThe one thing that Jason Day does not do is drive the ball far, and lately his work off the tee and while approaching the greens has been less-than-stellar. His putting still ranks 50th on tour, but again, he cannot set up his shots. It has dropped his greens-in-regulation percentage to 64.17%, which ranks just 153rd on the tour. The Australian golfer is not what he once was, and DFS-wise with a nearly 7,400-yard course, he is not recommended this week.Source: PGATour.com
Daniel Berger Hopes To Find Putting Form
2 years agoDaniel Berger recorded a 23rd-place finish last week at The Charles Schwab Challenge. Berger had a solid week from tee-to-green, gaining 6.6 strokes. Unfortunately for Berger, he has been in a putting slump. Berger has now lost strokes putting in three straight events. At The PGA Championship, he lost an astounding 7.3 strokes on the green. Berger is projected to have low ownership and makes for a nice pivot option. If his putting can turn around, he could offer some nice leverage.Source: PGA Tour
Adam Scott Looking For Any Momentum At The Memorial
2 years agoAdam Scott has not fared well in the last three big PGA tournaments. He nearly did have a top-30 result at the Byron Nelson but faltered badly at the PGA Championship. The Australian golfer missed the cut unlike The Masters and The Players Championship. His putting gains him almost a half stroke on average but he loses .18 of a stroke around the green. That could be a problem this week on "the course that Jack built". Scott must drive the ball well and hit the greens with regularity. Anything less could spell trouble.Source: PGATour.com
Rory Mcllroy Looks To Contend At The Memorial
2 years agoRory Mcllroy arrives in Ohio off three straight top-10 finishes. McIlroy most recently recorded an eighth-place finish at The PGA Championship. At Southern Hills, McIlroy gained 4.9 strokes on approach and 10.4 strokes from tee-to-green. McIlroy has also played well at Jack's place, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in 2016. McIlroy is in excellent form and should take on strong consideration for being rostered in DFS.Source: PGA Tour
Xander Schauffele Looks To Contend At Memorial
2 years agoXander Schauffele arrives at Muirfield Village coming off two consecutive good weeks. He posted a fifth-place finish at the Byron Nelson and followed it up with a 13th-place finish at the PGA Championship his last time out. It has been a solid season so far for Schauffele, but he is still looking for his first individual PGA Tour win since 2019. The Memorial is an event Schauffele has played well at over the years. He has posted three consecutive top-15 finishes at this tournament, including a T11 finish last year. Schauffele is expected to be one of the most popular players in DFS and is one of the favorites in the betting market. He is one of the best players in the world and is trending in the right direction. He is a solid outright bet and a great DFS play, but keep in mind he will be a very popular pick in both formats.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
