Kevin Kisner Hopes To Get Back On Track At Colonial
2 years agoIt was another tough week for Kevin Kiser at the PGA Championship. He missed the cut at Southern Hills, extending his missed-cut streak to three events in a row. He has been particularly bad with his irons, losing strokes on approach in five of his last seven events. A trip to Colonial Country Club may be just the thing Kisner needs right now. He won this event back in 2017 and has made the cut four of the last five years. His recent struggles will keep his ownership low in DFS, and there are players in his price range that make more sense on paper. However, his course history does make him a potential sleeper play.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Gary Woodland Aims To Continue His Success At Colonial
2 years agoGary Woodland has thrived at Colonial Country Club the past few years. In his past two starts at the Charles Schwab Challenge, Woodland has posted two top-15 finishes, including a ninth-place finish last year. On top of his stellar course history, Woodland has been playing some solid golf. He has made the cut in four of his last five events and is coming off a 34th-place finish at the PGA Championship last week at Southern Hills. He is a great wind player, so he should have no problem navigating the Texas wind. Woodland will be a popular DFS option, but he is worth eating the chalk at a course he has experienced success at.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Patrick Reed Looks To Find His Form At Charles Schwab
2 years agoPatrick Reed heads to Colonial fresh off a solid week at the PGA Championship. Reed made the cut and finished in 34th, gaining five strokes from tee-to-green. He has made the cut in four of his last five events and seems to be slowly finding his form. The main issue for Reed has been his driver. He has lost strokes off the tee in seven of his last 10 events, including last week at Southern Hills. There is still some concern that his struggles from the tee box will prevent him from posting a strong result, but it is nice to see Reed making cuts. His ownership will be low, making Reed an intriguing flier option in DFS at a cheap price.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Scottie Scheffler Looking To Bounce Back In Texas
2 years agoScottie Scheffler missed only his second cut of the season at The PGA Championship. Outside of his approach play, all other areas of his game let him down. He now heads back to Colonial for the third time in his career, hoping to improve on a missed cut and a T55. The biggest concern heading to a venue like this is his accuracy off the tee, but in his last two appearances he gained considerably off the tee which bodes well for the Texan who has a fantastic opportunity to bounce back this week. Abraham Ancer A Strong Option At Colonial
2 years agoAbraham Ancer should be a strong DFS play and betting option this week at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Ancer is coming off a top ten finish at the PGA championship, where he gained over four and a half strokes on approach. If the approach play continues, his game should set up nicely for Colonial Country Club. The Texas native is one of the most accurate drivers on tour and this week's course will require strong accuracy off the tee. The 31-year-old has also gained strokes putting in five of his last six measured events. All signs point to a big week from the former Oklahoma Sooner.Source: Fantasy National
Viktor Hovland Can Chip Away At Colonial Country Club
2 years agoViktor Hovland has gained off the tee in all but two of his 12 starts this season, while gaining on approach in all but one of those starts. His biggest weakness is his around the green play, gaining less than 0.28 total strokes in 11 of 12, often losing considerably in this department. Colonial CC has seen winners of the event lose around the greens, giving Hovland a fantastic opportunity to lean on the other three areas of his game that are the reason he is the seventh ranked player in the world.Source: PGA Tour
Sungjae Im Returns From COVID Protocols
2 years agoSungjae Im found himself in Korean COVID-19 protocols a week before the PGA Championship, which caused him to miss the second major of the year. Colonial Country Club suits Im's ball-striking ability. He is accurate and long off the tee, which is a premium requirement at a tight venue like this. His approach play has bounced back after a disappointing Florida swing, which is another key requirement when attacking the smaller-than-average greens. The only concern of Im's game would be his below-average putting on Bent surfaces over the last 50 rounds. His last three starts here were a missed cut, a T10 and another missed cut, which may mean we'll see another impressive performance from the Korean if he makes the cut.Source: PGA Tour
Justin Thomas Eyeing Back-To-Back Wins
2 years agoJustin Thomas, now a two-time PGA Champion, battled the worst weather that hit his wave of tee times to outduel Will Zalatoris in a playoff last weekend. Thomas gained at least 2.4 strokes in each major statistical category. His irons, typically the strength of his game, gained the least number of strokes. He gained over 6.5 strokes putting, which was the second-best putting performance of the week. His game suits any golf course and he will rely on his shot-shaping off the tee and incredibly consistent iron play to presumably put himself back in contention a mere four days after hoisting the Wannamaker trophy. His confidence is at an all-time high, and if he takes this week seriously, we could see him win back-to-back events.Source: PGA Tour
Jordan Spieth Looks To Continue Strong Spring At Colonial
2 years agoEver since Jordan Spieth's missed cut at The Masters, he has played well. Spieth rebounded with a win in Hilton Head and a second-place finish at The Byron Nelson. Spieth finished in 34th place at The PGA Championship last week. Spieth played well, gaining 8.6 strokes tee-to-green and 4.7 strokes on approach. Spieth did lose 3.2 strokes putting which contributed to his 34th place finish. Spieth has excellent course history at this event and figures to be a popular play. Source: PGA Tour
Christiaan Bezuidenhout May Not Be One To Play This Week
2 years agoChristiaan Bezuidenhout missed the cut at The PGA Championship. Bezuidenhout did arrive at Southern Hills with some momentum. He finished in 12th place the week before at The Byron Nelson. Bezuidenhout's performance was largely due to putting. He gained 8.1 stokes putting that week. He did not have a similar week putting at Southern Hills which likely resulted in his missed cut. Bezuidenhout has not shown any consistent ball striking stats to support playing him this week. Source: PGA Tour
Daniel Berger Hopes To Build On Past Success
2 years agoDaniel Berger had a disappointing missed cut at The PGA Championship. Berger lost 3.1 strokes on approach and 7.3 putting. Berger returns to Colonial where he won in 2020. Berger won that event after the COVID break. He gained 7.6 strokes gained tee-to-green and 5.4 on approach that week. Regardless of his recent missed cut, Berger has been in good form. Over the last 24 rounds, he ranks eighth in the field tee-to-green. Berger figures to be a popular play this week. Source: PGA Tour
Harold Varner III A Nice Wildcard For The Charles Schwab
2 years agoHarold Varner III made the weekend at the PGA Championship and finished just inside the top-50. His ability to hit relatively long off the tee helped. However, his result may have been even better had it not been for the +3 on the back nine. Varner III never truly contended but was at least a factor this weekend. Given he had four weeks between appearances, this was a solid result. That was after back-to-back top-five results in April. Varner III can make birdies in bunches like in New Orleans and gains nearly 0.4 strokes around the green (16th on tour). It may be another wild and fun DFS ride with the American golfer.Source: PGATour.com
Max Homa Playing Well Heading To Charles Schwab Classic
2 years agoMax Homa was again right in it until almost the end on Sunday at the PGA Championship. What do we mean? He shot right at even par which was a good score on a very difficult Southern Hills course. With the winds and changeable conditions, the American golfer was able to make enough putts to come close to a top-ten result. In the end, he wound up tied for 13th. Aside from the final round at the Zurich Open, Homa has put together 11 solid rounds out of his last 12. That has been enough to win one tournament (Wells Fargo) and contend in two others. Homa looks far better than he did last month at The Masters.Source: PGATour.com
Rickie Fowler May Be One To Watch At Charles Schwab
2 years agoRickie Fowler braved the changeable conditions at Southern Hills and endured a wild Sunday ride. In the end, Fowler finished tied for 23rd and shot even-par on Sunday (four birdies, four bogeys). The only concern was that the American golfer never could put together a few holes. Arguably, that might have been the theme of his entire tournament. The key was that Fowler did not come unglued. He did not implode on the course. He showed that resolve at the Wells Fargo too. It is very possible that Fowler improves on his 157th-ranked putting this week and contends at the Charles Schwab.Source: PGATour.com
Webb Simpson Looks Ahead After Good PGA Championship
2 years agoWebb Simpson managed to stay in the top-20 over the weekend at the PGA Championship. The +2 on the back nine did not dampen his spirits. If anything, given the conditions, Simpson felt he played well. He was able to ride the waves and not be too high or too low. Simpson did make a couple of birdies on the day (both on the front nine). The American golfer has struggled for the majority of 2022 so this result was a welcome one. With the Charles Schwab Classic up next, Simpson could be someone to watch.Source: PGATour.com
