2 years agoJoaquin Niemann has been playing some great golf in 2022. He has only missed one cut this calendar year and is riding a five-event made-cut streak. Last time out, Niemann finished 23rd at the PGA Championship at Southern Hills. Niemann is one of the best short-game players on the PGA Tour. He has gained strokes around the green in 13 straight events and ranks 40th on the PGA Tour in scrambling. That will come in handy this week, as Muirfield Village has some of the smallest greens on the PGA Tour. He is going to be popular in DFS and could end up being one of the highest-owned players this week. He is a solid play in DFS and is worth a look as an outright bet if the number is right.--Dalton Finkbeiner - RotoBallerSource: https://www.pgatour.com/

2 years agoGary Woodland just can't seem to find consistency. He arrives at Muirfield Village fresh off a missed cut at Colonial, a course that he has historically played well at. Despite the poor play in Texas, he once again finds himself at a course he knows well. Woodland has made the cut in four of his last five starts at the Memorial, posting a pair of top-25 finishes during that stretch. The concern with Woodland is his lack of consistency with any part of his game. He's currently not doing anything consistently well, and his around-the-green game has been particularly poor the past two weeks. He is relatively cheap in DFS and will not attract a lot of attention. His current form does not make him an appealing DFS option.--Dalton Finkbeiner - RotoBallerSource: https://www.pgatour.com/

2 years agoIt has been a good couple weeks for Patrick Reed. He has made the cut in two straight events, including a seventh-place finish at Colonial last week. His iron play has been much improved, gaining strokes on approach in his past two starts. Reed has also posted some fantastic results at Muirfield Village. He has made the cut in his last four starts at the Memorial, including back-to-back top-10 finishes. Reed's price in DFS formats has risen over the past few weeks, as he has shown signs of life. He will be a popular play given his track record at this event and his recent form. He is a very solid DFS option and is worth a look as an outright bet.--Dalton Finkbeiner - RotoBallerSource: https://www.pgatour.com/

2 years agoAfter a red-hot start to 2022, Billy Horschel has cooled off considerably. The Florida native is coming off a missed cut at the Charles Schwab and a disappointing 68th place finish at the PGA Championship. Horschel has lost strokes on approach in three straight events and seems to be trending in the wrong direction. He does have four career top-20 finishes at the Memorial Tournament so perhaps getting back to a place of past success will help him turn it around. Still, Muirfield Village is not a place you want to be when trying to find your irons. --Matt Miller - RotoBallerSource: Fantasy National

2 years agoBryson Dechambeau will tee it up this week for the first time since early April. The former Memorial champion is coming off wrist surgery and has withdrawn from two consecutive tournaments, including the PGA Championship. Although all signs point to him teeing it up this week, proceeding with caution is the best option. Dechambeau will have some rust to shake off and is most likely using this as a chance to get some reps in before the US Open in a few weeks. --Matt Miller - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoMito Pereira had one hand on the Wanamaker Trophy before his final hole on Sunday. Pereira recorded a double bogey on the 18th hole to drop him from first to third. It was an excellent week however for Pereira. He gained 6.1 stokes on approach and 7.8 tee-to-green last week. It was his best finish of the year since the Fortinet Championship in the fall. How Pereira will respond this week is up for debate. However, there is no contesting the good form he is in. If he can have a short memory, there is not question that he can find himself in contention again this week. --Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoSam Burns is currently projected to be one of the lowest golfers in his price range. After his win at The Valspar in April, Burns had back-to-back missed cuts. He found some form at The PGA Championship where he finished in 20th place. Burns gained 4.1 strokes on approach and 3.2 tee-to-green. Burns also does not have good course history at this event, which is likely helping keep his ownership low. His best finish was 31st place in 2019. Burns is a much better golfer now and I expect him to play much better this week. At low ownership, Burns could be a key pivot option if he continues to improve on the form he showed last week. --Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoTalor Gooch made the cut at the PGA Championship and continued his streak of top-30s once making the cut. In the 13 starts since his win at the RSM Gooch has either missed the cut or finished top-30. Although he has nine top-30s, he only has one top-10 in that span, offering a high floor with a medium ceiling. He gained across the board at the PGA and his game should translate seamlessly to a tighter Colonial Country Club. If Gooch makes the cut a top-30 is almost a certainty. --Byron LindequeSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoWill Zalatoris finishing runner-up in a playoff for the PGA Championship and what would have been his first win on tour. Zalatoris continues to prove that he is a major contender with his fifth T8 or better in the seven majors he has not withdrawn from. Leading the tour in strokes gained approach, Zalatoris' tour rankings from 100-125 and 125-150-yard proximities are surprisingly 95th and 154th respectively, which are two proximity ranges that combine for a third of approach shots on this course. This may not be the course for Zalatoris to bounce back, losing -5.5 strokes on approach here last year. --Byron LindequeSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoJason Kokrak enters the week of his title defense with two top-20s in his last four starts. With only two missed cuts on the season, he has been playing remarkably steady golf on most fronts. His driver continues to be his best weapon from tee-to-green. But once his sporadic approach play and mediocre around the green game land him on the Bent greens at the Charles Schwab Challenge, it's his putter that steals the show. As the 34th best putter on tour, Kokrak has all the tools to manufacture a second win at his happy hunting ground that is Colonial Country Club. --Byron LindequeSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoBilly Horschel will look to contend at Colonial Country Club this week after a disappointing showing last week. The former Florida Gator grinded to make the cut at last week's PGA Championship but admitted he didn't have his best stuff and was disappointed with his finish. Horschel should come out inspired to get back on track this week. He has been strong off the tee, gaining strokes in four of his last five starts. The iron play has gotten worse in his last two starts and Horschel will need to get that back on track if he wishes to compete this week. --Matt Miller - RotoBallerSource: Fantasy National

2 years agoTony Finau is a safe play this week at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Finau has made five straight cuts and has been very strong tee to green in that stretch. The 32-year-old has gained over two strokes on approach in three of his last four starts. He has also gained strokes putting in three of his last four measured events, an element of his game which was holding him back in the earlier part of the season. The two-time winner has had success at Colonial Country Club in the past, finishing runner up in 2019. He has finished inside the top-30 in each past four appearances at this event. --Matt Miller - RotoBallerSource: Fantasy National

2 years agoDespite making seven straight cuts, Sahith Theegala is a tough player to analyze heading into the Charles Schwab. He has gained strokes on the field in just one of his last four events and has not posted a top-10 finish since his seventh-place finish at the Valspar in March. The upside is there with Theegala, though, and he has shown a relatively high floor with his ability to make cuts while contending at multiple events this season. He is very affordable in all DFS formats and won't attract too much ownership. He is a good bet to make the cut and has the talent to contend this week at Colonial.--Dalton Finkbeiner - RotoBallerSource: https://www.pgatour.com/

2 years agoK.H. Lee heads to the Charles Schwab hoping to extend his streak of recent success. He has made the cut in three straight events, including his win at the Byron Nelson two weeks ago. Both his PGA Tour wins have come at the Byron Nelson, showing that he is comfortable playing in the Texas wind. He has been particularly locked in on the greens, gaining strokes putting in his last three events. Despite his success in Texas and his reasonable price, Lee probably won't attract a lot of ownership in DFS. He is playing some great golf and has shown the ability to close out events when he is in the hunt. Lee is a solid under-the-radar DFS play and could be worth a look as an outright bet.--Dalton Finkbeiner - RotoBallerSource: https://www.pgatour.com/

2 years agoIt has been an inconsistent stretch of golf for Erik Van Rooyen. He has missed the cut in three of his last six events and has not made two consecutive cuts since February. He failed to play the weekend last week at Southern Hills, marking his fifth straight missed cut at a major championship. The issue for EVR has been his play on the greens. He ranks 141st in strokes gained putting on the PGA Tour, failing to gain strokes on the green in nine of his last 10 events. He has only played the Charles Schwab once, missing the cut in 2020. His lack of course experience, combined with his recent struggles, do not make him an appealing DFS option this week.--Dalton Finkbeiner - RotoBallerSource: https://www.pgatour.com/
