Jacoby Brissett Throws One TD In Week 1 Win
2 years agoCleveland Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 18 of his 34 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown while adding 10 yards on four carries in a 26-24 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. Brissett's first touchdown pass in a Cleveland uniform came on a one-yard completion to Kareem Hunt in the second quarter. Brissett played mistake-free football, although he didn't bring much explosiveness to the table, averaging just 4.3 yards per pass attempt. Week 1's game was an example of how the Browns want to play while Deshaun Watson is suspended as they leaned on the running game to move the chains, thus limiting Brissett's ceiling. Brissett will be a QB3 in fantasy heading into a Week 2 matchup against the New York Jets.Source: NFL.com
Aaron Rodgers Struggles In Loss
2 years agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers went 23-for-34 for 195 yards and threw an interception Sunday, adding one rush for a one-yard loss in a losing effort against the Minnesota Vikings. The reigning MVP struggled to drive the offense downfield without his new top target Allen Lazard (ankle). Many expected the passing attack to take a step back without star wideout Davante Adams, but the offense underperformed in what was considered a plus matchup. It will take time for Rodgers to gain chemistry with all the new wideouts in Green Bay, and until Lazard is back, the veteran's ceiling for fantasy seems to be capped. He will look to bounce back next week against Chicago.Source: NFL.com
Dustin Hopkins Converts One Of Two Field Goal Attempts
2 years agoLos Angeles Chargers kicker Dustin Hopkins made one of his two field goal attempts and all three extra-point tries in a 24-19 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Hopkins converted on a 43-yard attempt early in the game but missed wide left on a 49-yarder that would've given Los Angeles a two-touchdown lead in the fourth quarter. Luckily, the Raiders were unable to complete a comeback, so the miss didn't cost the team a divisional win. Hopkins will continue to be a solid fantasy option at the kicker position solely based on the Chargers' ability to move the ball and score. An enticing matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs is on deck.Source: ESPN
Kyler Murray Throws For 193 Yards In Week 1 Loss
2 years agoArizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray completed 22-of-34 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Murray added an additional 29 yards on the ground as he took off and ran with the ball five times. Although it was a tough game for the Cardinals' offense, Murray was able to provide fantasy managers with some solid production. The former No. 1 overall pick will look to bounce back in Week 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders. He can be valued as a solid QB1 option going forward.Source: ESPN
Ty Montgomery Scores In Week 1 Loss
2 years agoNew England Patriots running back Ty Montgomery (knee) rushed for minus-two yards on two attempts while catching three of four targets for 15 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Quarterback Mac Jones connected with Montgomery for a six-yard touchdown, which would be their only score of the game. The 29-year-old led New England's backfield in targets and appeared to be the Patriots' top pass-catching back over Rhamondre Stevenson. New England's offense struggled to move the ball on Sunday, but Montgomery does have flex appeal in deep PPR formats against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.Source: Pro Football Focus
Damien Harris Logs Nine Carries In Week 1 Loss
2 years agoNew England Patriots running back Damien Harris rushed nine times for 48 yards and caught two of three targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Miami Dolphins. He split early-down work with Rhamondre Stevenson but received one carry than his teammate. The 25-year-old will get most of the goal line work, but the Patriots offense struggled to move the ball on Sunday. Harris is in a timeshare with Stevenson and will look to build on Week 1's performance when New England takes on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.Source: Pro Football Focus
Kenny Golladay Quiet In Week 1 Win
2 years agoNew York Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay was limited to only two receptions for 22 yards in Sunday's 21-20 win over the Tennessee Titans. The veteran wide receiver was reported to be struggling this offseason, especially with the Giants having a new offensive scheme under Brian Daboll. Golladay saw a majority of the offensive snaps for New York in Week 1, though, the Giants only attempted 21 passes in the contest. It was Sterling Shepard, Saquon Barkley, and Richie James who would lead the team in receiving in the impressive road victory. After a disappointing debut season with the Giants in 2021, the expensive wide receiver is off to a slow start in 2022, and he shouldn't be considered a starter in fantasy unless he shows vast improvements moving forward.Source: ESPN
Marquise Brown Finds End Zone In Cardinals Debut
2 years agoArizona Cardinals wide receiver Marquise Brown caught four passes for 43 yards and a touchdown in his debut with his new team. The former Baltimore Raven finished with six targets in this one, with his longest reception going for 26 yards. Although Brown finished tied for second on the team in targets, he figures to be the team's No. 1 option in the passing game during the absence of DeAndre Hopkins. The 25-year-old will look to bounce back in Week 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders.Source: ESPN
Gerald Everett Scores In Debut With Chargers
2 years agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Gerald Everett hauled in three of four targets, posting 54 yards and a touchdown in a Week 1 win against the Las Vegas Raiders. Everett made the most of his opportunities with Keenan Allen (hamstring) sidelined and connected on an 18-yard strike from Justin Herbert for a score in the third quarter. Everett will definitely be a priority on the waiver wire for fantasy teams lacking at the tight end position. He is not a lock for consistent volume on a weekly basis, but not many tight ends are. Everett will be a solid streaming option for Week 2, especially if Allen is inactive, in an exciting matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.Source: ESPN
James Conner Scores In Week 1
2 years agoArizona Cardinals running back James Conner carried the ball 10 times for 26 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Conner added five receptions for 29 yards, as his longest rush and reception went for eight and six yards, respectively. Conner was limited by a poor game script but was still able to produce respectable numbers in this one. Conner and the Arizona offense will look to bounce back in Week 2 when they travel to Las Vegas.Source: ESPN
Kadarius Toney Barely Sees The Field In Week 1
2 years agoNew York Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney didn't see the field much in Sunday's win over the Tennessee Titans as he carried the ball two times for 23 yards. The second-year wideout didn't record a single catch or target in the contest. After being effective when he was healthy as a rookie in 2021, Toney was expected to have a decent-sized role with the Giants this season. However, the versatile wide receiver saw only two snaps in the first half and he was seen sitting by himself on the bench during the game, away from the other wide receivers. It's not a good sign that the Florida product couldn't even earn snaps with Kenny Golladay struggling and Wan'Dale Robinson exiting the game early. With a new coaching staff in place, it's clear that the 23-year-old wideout will need to prove he deserves a role in the offense moving forward.Source: ESPN
Rhamondre Stevenson Has 27 Total Yards In Week 1 Loss
2 years agoNew England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson rushed eight times for 25 yards and caught both of his targets for two yards in Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Miami Dolphins. He split early down work with Damien Harris and received one less carry. Ne England featured Ty Montgomery in the passing game and led all New England's running backs with four targets. The Patriots' offense looked out of sync and managed just seven points against a stout Dolphins defense. Stevenson will continue to be in a timeshare and is a flex option against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.Source: Pro Football Focus
Greg Joseph Perfect In Week 1
2 years agoMinnesota Vikings kicker Greg Joseph made all three of his field goal attempts and both extra-point attempts in Sunday's 23-7 win over the Green Bay Packers. Joseph hit from 29, 56, and 28 in this one, putting on a perfect performance to open the season. The 28-year-old looks like a reliable starting option for fantasy managers going forward.Source: ESPN
Austin Hooper Catches One Pass In Loss
2 years agoTennessee Titans tight end Austin Hooper caught one-of-two targets in the loss to the New York Giants and posted just six yards. It was a rough Titans debut for Hooper and Robert Woods, so it's worth monitoring if they can build chemistry with Ryan Tannehill. For now, Hooper shouldn't be considered in fantasy lineups. Until there are any positive signs, he should remain on the waiver wire, and off the fantasy radar. Geoff Swaim caught three passes for 19 yards, but he also doesn't have any fantasy relevance to this point.Source: ESPN
Sterling Shepard Leads Giants With 71 Receiving Yards In Week 1
2 years agoNew York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard led all wide receivers on the Giants with 71 receiving yards and a touchdown on two receptions. The veteran wideout spent the offseason rehabbing from an Achilles injury he suffered last season, but he was able to join the starting offense in Week 1. Even though the Giants didn't put the ball in the air much in the win over the Tennessee Titans, Shepard made the most of his opportunities by scoring a 65-yard touchdown to tie the game in the third quarter. The Oklahoma product has proven to be an effective wide receiver when he's healthy. And if Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney continue to see limited snaps, Shepard could transition into being a viable option in PPR leagues again.Source: ESPN
Mike Williams Has Quiet Week 1 Showing
2 years agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams finished with just two receptions for 10 yards on four targets in the team's Week 1 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Even with Keenan Allen (hamstring) exiting early, Williams failed to step up as three other pass-catchers scored. This type of floor has been seen throughout Williams' career, but he was able to make up for his disappointing games with blow-up performances in 2021. Fantasy managers will hope for exactly that in what could be a shootout with the Kansas City Chiefs next week. If Allen is forced to miss Week 2, Williams will be a must-start option but should be viewed as a boom-bust WR2 going forward.Source: ESPN
Vikings Defense Records Four Sacks And A Forced Fumble
2 years agoThe Minnesota Vikings' defense made life very difficult for Aaron Rodgers and company as they recorded four sacks and a forced fumble on the reigning MVP. Za'Darius Smith got in on the action against his former team as he recorded one sack and a tackle for loss in this one. The Vikings defensive unit looked strong in this one, however, they have another tough test in Week 2 as they travel to Philadelphia.Source: ESPN
Kyle Philips Leads Titans In Targets
2 years agoTennessee Titans wide receiver Kyle Philips drew nine targets in the loss to the New York Giants, catching six of them for 66 yards. He led the team by four targets and posted a 27-percent target share. He should immediately be on the fantasy radar, at least in PPR leagues. He obviously has early chemistry with Ryan Tannehill and served as his security blanket in his NFL debut. Four of the Titans' top five pass-catchers are in their first year with the team, so targets are up for grabs, and Philips is the early favorite to claim them in bunches. He's still not a "safe" starter, but he's worth playing in deep PPR leagues for fantasy managers in a pinch.Source: ESPN
Marquez Valdes-Scantling Catches Four Passes In Chiefs Debut
2 years agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling opened his KC career on Sunday with four receptions for 44 yards in a 44-21 win over the Cardinals. The former Packer is best known for being a deep threat in Green Bay, but that wasn't how the Chiefs ended up using him on Sunday. MVS was third among the team's wideouts in targets and appears to the No. 3 receiver for KC right now. He shouldn't be dropped in fantasy, but there's not much reason to add him right now either.Source: ESPN
Johnny Mundt Catches Three Passes In Week 1
2 years agoMinnesota Vikings tight end Johnny Mundt caught three passes for 17 yards in the team's Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers. Irv Smith Jr. was held to zero receptions on just two targets. Smith Jr. finished behind five players in terms of target volume, so moving forward he doesn't seem like a reliable option for fantasy managers. Still, Smith Jr. hasn't played a game since the 2020 season so a slow start doesn't come as a surprise. He should be treated as the Vikings TE1 moving forward despite Mundt outperforming him in the season opener.Source: ESPN
