Rory McIlroy Looking To Repeat Ball-Striking At The Players
3 years agoRory McIlroy gained a season-high 7.5 strokes in ball-striking at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Unfortunately, his putter rebelled at the worst time, and he lost strokes over his four rounds. A three-putt from five feet on Sunday was seemingly the straw that broke the camel's back. Past winners at The Players, including McIlroy, have typically carried peaking approach play into the tournament. If he can repeat his stellar ball-striking this week, he has a great chance to become a two-time Players champion.
