Starling Marte Very Likely To Be Traded

3 years agoMiami Marlins outfielder Starling Marte is extremely likely to be traded before the July 31 trade deadline. Marte was in talks with the Marlins about signing an extension, but those talks are reportedly over and the two sides were never close. Given his expiring contract and the Marlins floundering in last place with little to look forward to this season, there's no reason for the team to hold onto Marte after this month. He should net a decent return for the Marlins as long as they wait for a good offer. Marte is hitting .286/.389/.443 and playing excellent defense in center field.
