Walker Kessler Goes To The T-Wolves At No. 22 Overall
3 years agoThe Minnesota Timberwolves selected Auburn center Walker Kessler with the 22nd overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft. The team acquired the pick on draft day in a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies where the Grizzlies moved up to No. 19. Kessler is arguably the top shot-blocker in the 2022 draft class. He averaged an astounding 4.6 blocks per game as a sophomore last year while logging just 25.6 minutes per contest. He also racked up 11.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Karl-Anthony Towns will of course hold down the starting center role for the T-Wolves this year. Kessler also has to worry about backup big man Naz Reid clogging up the center minutes, but if Kessler can prove that his shot-blocking prowess translates to the pros, he should most certainly carve out a role in the league at some point.
