6 years agoUpdating a previous report, Texas Rangers outfield prospect Willie Calhoun will be promoted to the Rangers major league roster Friday. Calhoun will initially fill the spot vacated by Jesse Chavez when he was traded Thursday. However, with just a six-man bullpen currently, it is likely that a position player will have to make room for the arrival of Calhoun. That move is likely to come Saturday, when Alex Claudio should be activated from the disabled list. It is possible Nomar Mazara could be headed to the disabled list with an injured wrist, or Joey Gallo, who has struggled in the first half of the season, could spend time in the minors. If an outfielder makes way for Claudio then the path for regular playing time could quickly open up for Calhoun. The young outfielder is worth an add in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues at this point.--Ben Rolfe
