Yankees Interested In Signing Brett Gardner

3 years agoFree-agent outfielder Brett Garnder still has a shot at returning to the Yankees in 2021, and the team reportedly continues to express interest in the 37-year-old. Gardner's fantasy value isn't great if he rejoins the Yankees as he'd be the team's fourth outfielder with the possibility of getting overtaken on the depth chart by Mike Tauchman or Jay Bruce, but the starting Yankees outfielders (Clint Frazier, Aaron Judge, and Aaron Hicks) have all struggled with injuries over their careers, and that could open up semi-consistent playing time for Gardner. Even so, Gardner's relatively limited offensive production (no projection system expects Gardner to post an OPS above .771 in 2021) makes him little more than an occasional DFS option for most fantasy managers.--Sam Chinitz
