6 years agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Zach Davies was optioned to the minors on Thursday along with Corey Knebel. Unlike Knebel, this doesn't look like a demotion, but more of an opportunity for Davies to get in some extra time before returning to the majors from a shoulder injury. Davies had a breakout year in 2017 with 15 wins and a 3.90 ERA and looked to be a solid pitching choice heading into this year, but unfortunately it didn't pan out as he took a 5.23 ERA with him onto the disabled list. Davies should more than likely return to the Brewers in September, but he's not worth stashing this late in the game. He's worth keeping an eye on, but wait to see how he pitches before making any moves.--Steve McCarthy - RotoBaller
