FanDuel PGA DFS Lineup Picks - 2022 BMW Championship

Hello RotoBaller PGA crew! It's great to be back with you guys and I appreciate you joining us here at RotoBaller for your PGA DFS research. This week we'll dig into the FanDuel PGA DFS slate for the second event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs...the BMW Championship.

In this article, we'll discuss some of the standout PGA DFS plays available on FanDuel for the 2022 BMW Championship. While it's impossible to hit on every player, we'll touch on some different plays across all price ranges, breaking the groups down into "High", "Mid", and "Low" price options that are worth considering.

Like always, the purpose of this piece is to help you put together your optimal daily fantasy golf lineups for FanDuel, whether that be from a GPP perspective or a cash-game mentality. Be sure to also read all of our other top-notch weekly PGA DFS and betting articles to help you win big!

2022 BMW Championship - PGA DFS Overview

The Course: Wilmington Country Club (South Course)
Par 71 - 7,534 Yards, Greens: Bent, Designed By: Robert Trent Jones Sr.

The list of what we don't know about Wilmington Country Club is lengthy, as this will mark the first professional event that the respected Deleware course has ever hosted. While most feelings about how precisely this Robert Trent Jones Sr. layout will play are educated guesses at best, there are a few concrete facts that we do know.

This Par-71 course is long on the scorecard with three beefy Par-5s - two of which measure over 600 yards - and three testy Par-3s of over 200 yards. We also know that these greens are legit huge and with an average of 8,100 square feet, they are some of the biggest on the PGA Tour schedule.

Due to this course's length, relatively narrow fairways, and large greens, I'll be favoring the bombers this week. Driving distance, SG: OTT, and SG: Ball Striking will be my most heavily weighted traits when targeting DFS plays on this slate.

High-Priced FanDuel DFS Plays

Jon Rahm ($11,400)

By his lofty standards, 2022 has been a quiet year for Jon Rahm, the man that was the No. 1 ranked player in the world entering January. However, there were some signs last week in Memphis that Rahm is gearing up for the stretch run, as his eight strokes gained T2G were his best tally since his lone win of the year back in May. The Spaniard's biggest weapon is his driver and the big dog has remained sharp even throughout his slump, as a ranking of second in this week's field over the last 24 rounds indicates. That excellence off the tee will be a big advantage on this week's 7,500-yard Wilmington CC layout.

Tony Finau ($11,000)

After blitzing mediocre fields at the 3M Open and Rocket Mortgage Classic to win in back-to-back weeks, Tony Finau doesn't seem to be slowing down. The step up in competition last week at the St. Jude didn't seem to impact Finau negatively, as he had a legitimate chance to steal a victory before ultimately settling for a T5 result. The Utah resident has all the tools that seem to be required at the BMW this week, including power (14th in Driving Distance) and accuracy (second Good Drived Gained) off the tee. Over the last 24 rounds, Finau ranks first in this elite field in SG: Ball Striking, T2G, & Total.

Cameron Young ($10,400)

Cameron Young's T31 last week in Memphis is deceptive and doesn't really express how well the rookie played from T2G. The New Yorker gained a massive 8.4 strokes T2G at the FedEx St. Jude, but was abysmal on the greens, losing 5.5 strokes with the putter - his worst performance since joining the PGA Tour. I look for some positive regression in that area this week and I love the ball-striking prowess that he brings to Delaware. He grades out first in this field in SG: OTT over the last 24 rounds, while standing second in Driving Distance. His irons have been nearly as sharp, as he grades out seventh in Overall Proximity.

Mid-Priced FanDuel DFS Plays

Joaquin Niemann ($9,600)

The young Chilean has been solid, if unspectacular, this summer. Despite relatively few "splash" outings since his impressive win at Riviera earlier in the year, I am bullish on Niemann this week thanks to his output in last week's FedEx St. Jude. The rising star gained 5.8 strokes on Approach at TPC Southwind, which was his best iron performance in over two months and his third-best statistical outing this calendar year. That uptick in ball-striking, coupled with Bent greens such as he'll see this week being his best surface by a wide margin, puts Niemann squarely on my DFS radar this week.

Aaron Wise ($9,000)

Anytime we start discussing "driver heavy" golf courses - which I believe Wilmington CC to be - Aaron Wise deserves our consideration. The former NCAA Individual Champion has had some ups and downs as a pro, but Wise undoubtedly possesses an elite skill set in relation to modern course setups. He grades out 12th in this week's field in SG: Ball Striking and 19th in SG: OTT. The Oregon alum has consistently been held back by an often-balky putter, but there's been some encouraging strides made on the greens this year, as he's actually gained an average of 1.8 strokes putting over his last five starts.

Cam Davis ($8,900)

Nothing flashy here, but Cam Davis is playing with an extremely high level of consistency this summer. Following what felt like a breakthrough win in Detroit last year, the young Aussie got off to a bit of a sluggish start in 2022. However, he's undoubtedly found his footing down the stretch this season and has now reeled off four straight top-16 finishes. Davis possesses sneaky power off the tee - he grades out fourth among this week's entrants in Driving Distance - and comes into the second playoff event with his entire game clicking. He's gained an average of 5.9 strokes total over his last five tournaments and ranks 11th in this field in SG: Total over the last 12 rounds.

Low-Priced FanDuel DFS Players

Taylor Pendrith ($8,700)

In a no-cut event such as this week's BMW Championship, we have the ability to be aggressive with lineup construction. As a result of the freedom, I won't hesitate to target some of the tremendous value options on the board. Taylor Pendrith grades out as one of my top salary savers this week. The Canadian has put together his best season as a pro in 2022 and that climb has been aided by his prodigious length off the tee. He ranks third in this star-studded field in Driving Distance and that power should serve him well on this 7,500-yard Wilmington CC layout. Pendrith isn't just a one-trick pony though, as he stands 24th in Overall Proximity over his last 24 rounds.

Taylor Moore ($8,100)

We've officially entered the "Taylor Zone" at the bottom of the salary scale. With a field packed so full of superstars, it's easy for a guy like Taylor Moore to get lost in the shuffle. However, if his recent form is any indicator, it would be a mistake to overlook him this week. His first full season on the PGA Tour has been a successful one for the 29-year-old and it appears as though Moore has saved his best golf for the stretch run. Over his last six starts, he's posted a pair of top-six results to go with two top-25s. He's now gained strokes T2G in five straight and is an intriguing value option in GPPs thanks to that recent form.
