Hello RotoBaller PGA crew! It's great to be back with you guys and I appreciate you joining us here at RotoBaller for your PGA DFS research. This week we'll dig into the FanDuel PGA DFS slate for the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club.

In this article, we'll discuss some of the standout PGA DFS plays available on FanDuel for the 2022 Travelers Championship. While it's impossible to hit on every player, we'll touch on some different plays across all price ranges, breaking the groups down into "High", "Mid", and "Low" price options that are worth considering.

Like always, the purpose of this piece is to help you put together your optimal daily fantasy golf lineups for FanDuel, whether that be from a GPP perspective or a cash-game mentality. Be sure to also read all of our other top-notch weekly PGA DFS and betting articles to help you win big!

2022 Genesis Scottish Open - PGA DFS Overview

The Course: The Renaissance Club

Par 71 - 7,293 Yards, Greens: Fescue, Designed By: Tom Doak

Renowned architect Tom Doak built The Renaissance Club - his first course in Scotland - in 2008 and made some noticeable revisions in 2014. It is by all accounts a links golf course, though some purists might quibble with that and refer to it as a "links style" course. Those labels aside, players will face rugged terrain and deep bunkering this week, while the ground game will also come into play around the greens.

In true Scottish fashion, The Renaissance can be unpredictable due to the elements and its seaside exposure. This volatility is evident in the drastically different winning scores of the Scottish Open in 2019 at 22-under par and 2020 at just 11-under par. My advice would be to monitor the weather forecast closely throughout the week, as there's always a chance of some tee time wave advantages when playing in these conditions.

Ball-striking and approach play always seem to be at the top of our "important stats" for every event and that's again the case for the Scottish Open. Outside of these concrete statistical areas I will also explore players with strong links records and a history of playing well in windy conditions.

Fantasy Golf Lineup Picks for FanDuel (PGA DFS)

We have tons of great weekly PGA articles, DFS analysis, tools and DFS advice. Be sure to read our other fantastic articles regarding this week's event including DFS lineup picks for DraftKings/FanDuel, betting advice and DFS prop picks.

High-Priced FanDuel DFS Plays

Justin Thomas ($11,800)

With the year's final major on the horizon next week and the unpredictability that comes with seaside weather and links golf, you could make a reasonable argument for fading the top of the board this week. However, the cream does have a tendency to rise to the top in strong fields such as this week's Genesis Scottish Open, so Justin Thomas will find his way into lots of my FanDuel lineups on this slate. Fading JT has largely been a losing proposition this year and I have no interest in pivoting away from the recent PGA Championship winner on a Renaissance Club layout on which he's recorded top-10 finishes in each of his two career appearances.

Matt Fitzpatrick ($11,600)

My other big spend on this slate will be the freshly-minted major champion, Matt Fitzpatrick. The Englishman has thrived in every area this year, including off the tee thanks to his newfound power. He grew up playing links golf and dealing with nasty weather which I feel is a big plus this week. Fitzy has also shown an affinity for The Renaissance Club in prior appearances, as he lost last year's Scottish Open in a playoff and posted a rock-solid T14 on this golf course in 2019. I don't know that I'm completely comfortable with his hefty new price point yet, but Fitzpatrick makes too much sense to ignore this week.

Tommy Fleetwood ($10,600)

Like the aforementioned Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood is an Englishman that's comfortable with this week's environment. Fleetwood logged a heartbreaking runner-up finish on this golf course in 2020 and followed up with a nice T26 in last year's edition. He's historically played well on links courses and has looked rejuvenated this year after scuffling for the past couple. The Englishman recorded just two top-10 finishes last season, a mark that he's already doubled in the 2022 season. His resurgence can be attributed to his regained consistency with the irons and Fleetwood has gained an average of 2.4 strokes per tournament on Approach over his last five starts.

Mid-Priced FanDuel DFS Plays

Robert MacIntyre ($9,700)

The Scotland native will have the advantage of playing in his home country this week. The big lefty has performed well under similar circumstances in the past, notching top-18 finishes in each of his last two Scottish Open starts. MacIntyre comes in off his best outing in quite some time - a T13 in last week's Irish Open - and has already proven himself to be something of a mini "Big Game Hunter" with a top-10 in last year's Open Championship and a pair of top-25s at Augusta National already on his young resume.

Lucas Herbert ($9,700)

The well-traveled Aussie is a veteran of the DP World Tour but has primarily played in the U.S. this year thanks to securing his PGA Tour card with a victory at the wind-swept Bermuda Championship back in October. Herbert is not only very familiar with links golf but has thrived, specifically, at The Renaissance Club, posting back-to-back T4 finishes on the Tom Doak layout since 2020. His short game is sneaky-elite and he comes into this year's edition of the Scottish riding some positive momentum on the heels of a top-10 finish at the Irish Open in his most recent start.

Aaron Rai ($9,400)

The 27-year-old Englishman is no stranger to links golf or this Renaissance layout. Rai won the 2020 Scottish Open and comes into this year's edition fresh off a top-10 in last week's Irish Open. He came up through the European Challenge Tour and spent three seasons on the former European Tour, winning twice, before earning a PGA Tour card for this season. He's been a bit uneven in his rookie campaign in America, but impressed with a top-10 at the Farmers early in the year and looked sharp en route to strong finishes at both the Memorial and Canadian Open last month. He's gained a combined 14.8 strokes T2G over his last two U.S. starts and carries top-10 upside this week, despite the depth of the field in Scotland.

Low-Priced FanDuel DFS Players

Min Woo Lee ($8,600)

Lee is the defending Scottish Open champion, so we're probably not going to sneak up on anyone with him this week. That said, I do feel as though the majority of international players - including Lee - are underpriced on this FanDuel slate. The native Aussie has posted some flashy results in limited U.S. starts this year, with a T14 at the Masters and a T27 at the U.S. Open standing as the highlights. Long off the tee with a great short game, Lee's irons can come and go, which leads to inconsistency. However, when things are clicking he can be very dangerous no matter how strong the field or big the tournament. He's worth a gamble in GPP formats this week thanks to his upside.

Adri Arnaus ($8,200)

Advertising

The Spaniard has been a consistent force on the DP World Tour throughout 2022, posting a win at the Catalunya Championship and racking up an additional seven top-20 finishes on the DP circuit. American golf fans got a glimpse of Arnaus when he logged a T30 at the PGA Championship in May for his best career finish in a major. He posted a T26 in his Scottish Open debut and has the tools necessary to handle this week's Renaissance layout.

Victor Perez ($8,100)

We'll round out this week's article with yet another underpriced DP World Tour member, Victor Perez. The Frenchman has amassed a 68.83 scoring average at The Renaissance Club across three Scottish Open appearances that included a career-best T14 finish in 2020. Perez is an experienced links player and won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship back in 2019. His recent form has also been good, as he captured the Dutch Open championship at the end of May and followed with a T3 result at the Porsche European Open to open the month of June. Perez ranks inside the DP World Tour top-10 in both SG: T2G & Approach this season.
