2022 Wyndham Championship - PGA DFS Overview
The Course: Sedgefield CC
Par 70 - 7,131 Yards, Greens: Bermuda, Designed By: Donald Ross
This little Donald Ross gem has been a presence on the professional circuit since the 1930's and has now played host to this event for 13 consecutive years. At just over 7,100 yards, length won't be an issue for the players this week (Henrik Stenson won here a few years ago without hitting his driver one time. Literally never hit driver all week!). Fairways and greens are the order of the day at Sedgefield. In true Ross fashion, these greens are some of the smallest on the PGA Tour schedule and do have tricky undulations, but this track routinely ranks as one of the easiest on the PGA Tour schedule.
It seems like we emphasize ball striking every week, but it is without a doubt crucial at Sedgefield. It's a bit of an outlier event in that I'm paying absolutely no attention to distance. I'll be focusing on ball strikers that are both accurate off the tee and precise with their irons - especially wedges - on approach. Birdies will be needed in bunches to contend and we'll need to identify players that have the ability to go low.

Fantasy Golf Lineup Picks for FanDuel (PGA DFS)
We have tons of great weekly PGA articles, DFS analysis, tools and DFS advice. Be sure to read our other fantastic articles regarding this week's event including DFS lineup picks for DraftKings/FanDuel, betting advice and DFS prop picks.
High-Priced FanDuel DFS Plays
Webb Simpson ($11,600)
If you believe that course history matters, Webb Simpson is your guy this week. His track record at the Wyndham is the stuff of legend and in addition to winning the event in 2011, he's posted four top-3 finishes since 2017! To put things into perspective, Simpson's Strokes Gained: Total mark of 60.4 in the Wyndham is double that of the player with the second-best mark (Billy Horschel at + 30.87) and is the highest that I've ever seen since I started writing PGA DFS articles in 2018.
Sungjae Im ($11,300)
Sungjae Im has been consistently great in previous trips to Sedgefield, accumulating a 66.42 career scoring average on the Ross layout - a mark that's the best in the field this week - as well as a pair of top-10 finishes across three Wyndham starts. In addition to his history of excellence on this golf course, he comes into this year's edition on the heels of his best ball-striking performance of 2022. He gained a massive 10.7 strokes T2G en route to a runner-up finish at the 3M Open two weeks ago. His combination of trending form and course history make him my favorite spend-up option on the slate.
Adam Scott ($10,800)
After fighting through what's been fairly lethargic play for the better part of 2022, the Aussie with the lovely swing has shown some life recently. Quiet top-15 finishes in both the U.S. and British Opens reminded us what world-class ball-striking can accomplish on big boy golf courses, while a SG: T2G mark of +6.4 last week in Detroit leads me to be bullish on Adam Scott this week.
In addition to the flash of form, Scott found himself in a six-man playoff in last year's Wyndham Championship and has elected to return again this year, something that's not always a given with the veteran that's notoriously choosy with his schedule.

Mid-Priced FanDuel DFS Plays
Si Woo Kim ($10,300)
Si Woooo! The often-erratic Kim shapes up as a strong GPP play this week on a Sedgefield layout at which he's been tremendous throughout his career. The South Korean captured his first PGA Tour win in the 2016 Wyndham and has now logged top-five finishes in three consecutive years at Sedgefield.
Kim comes into this year's edition with his arrow pointing up. He's gained a combined 14.9 strokes total over his last two starts, which has resulted in back-to-back top-15 finishes. There's some inherent volatility that comes with rostering Si Woo, but I love the upside we're getting here.
Denny McCarthy ($9,800)
If you like to price shop between the two major DFS sites, Denny McCarthy is a steal at FanDuel in comparison to his DraftKings price point. While the putting wizard is the 11th-highest-priced player on the DK salary scale, he's the 20th on FD. There's reason to jump on this relative value, as McCarthy's Wyndham track record and recent form are both strong. He's made the cut in four straight trips to Greensboro and run off three consecutive top-25s in this event. McCarthy has also flexed some impressive upside recently by logging top-seven finishes in three of his last five starts on the PGA Tour.
Adam Long ($9,600)
If we boil things down to current form, Adam Long is difficult to ignore. The journeyman-type has been playing at a high level for months. Across his last 10 starts, Long has made nine cuts and scored six top-25 finishes. The formula has been relatively simple...hit fairways and hit greens. The veteran grades out first in this field in GIRs over the last 24 rounds, while ranking 17th in Good Drives Gained over the same timeframe. It's a combination that should serve him well at Sedgefield this week, as distance takes a backseat to accuracy on this classical Ross layout.
Low-Priced FanDuel DFS Players
Adam Svensson ($9,400)
Another Adam with great form. Svensson has quietly recorded top-25 finishes in five of his last six starts with a missed cut at the 3M standing as the only real blemish since May. The Canadian is a notoriously-sharp ball striker that grades out 10th in this week's field in SG: Approach over his last 24 rounds. He's been helped by an often-balky putter that's finally cooperating a bit. Svensson has rolled in enough putts to rank first in this field in DK Points scored over the last 24 rounds. His track record at the Wyndham isn't extensive, but he did record a T31 in his lone trip to Sedgefield. He is an excellent way to save salary while still grabbing realistic upside.
Alex Smalley ($9,100)
Lots of narratives point to Alex Smalley this week, the prominent being his ties to this event. Smalley attended Duke University, is a Greensboro resident, and is a member of Sedgefield Country Club. He's logged hundreds of rounds on this golf course, and in addition to that familiarity, he's had a rock-solid rookie year on the PGA Tour, posting six top-25 finishes in 2022. The combination of his explosive scoring ability and comfort level at Sedgefield make him one of my favorite value plays on the slate.
