Fantasy College Football CFB Rankings: NCAA Top 10 (10/15/18)

With baseball season over (for us) and hockey season essentially over (again, for us), and with basketball season (ahem, for us) over before it even starts, we have plenty of time to focus on college football.

And good thing, too. For it was a topsy-turvy week in the Top 10.

Here are our top teams after Week Seven of the season (with won-loss records in parentheses), as of October 15, 2018:

NCAA College Football (CFB) Rankings

1. Alabama, (7-0)

Memo to Nick Saban: College kids have to go to class and do homework (though, full disclosure: we didn't do much of either and we turned out just fine); they don't have to go to football games. Though, to be fair, why anyone wouldn't want to see the Crimson Tide play is beyond us. QB Tua Tagovailoa's (265 yards 3 TDs vs. Mizzou) knee injury is worth watching.

2. Ohio State, (7-0)

Those Buckeye backers who ripped us for rating Urban Meyer's team low to start the season have proved us wrong--again. Buckeyes' QB Dwayne Haskins (33/44, 412 yards, 3 TDs vs. Minnesota; above in shades) basically puts up the same astounding stats week in and week out.

3. Clemson, (6-0)

The Tigers can thank their schedule-makers for giving them a bye week for "upset Saturday." But seriously: Dabo Swinney's men were always going to be in the mix anyway. With a ranked opponent--NC State--coming in on Oct. 20, we'll see if the rest helps or hurts.

4. Notre Dame, (7-0)

Can the Irish really run the table? Seems unlikely, what with their schedule. But, they did come from behind to beat a game Pitt on Saturday, and QB Ian Book (26/32, 264 yards, 2 TDs) was the big reason why.

5. LSU, (6-1)

RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (19 carries, 145 yards) carried the mail for the Tigers on Saturday, and suddenly Ed Orgeron's team is once again nipping at Alabama's heels.

6. Georgia, (6-1)

No shame in losing at LSU... at least not now, what with the resurgence on the bayou. But the Bulldogs have a gauntlet coming up, with the rivalry game vs. Florida, a visit to competitive Kentucky and a home date against Auburn on the horizon. QB Jake Fromm (16/34, 209 yards vs. the Tigers) will need to step us.

7. UCF, (6-0)

The Knights beat Memphis on Saturday. Ho-hum, you say? The key is they won. QB McKenzie Milton (17/29, 296 yards against the Tigers) is a winner, and receiver Gabriel Davis (6 catches, 128 yards, 1 TD) is his go-to.

8. Oklahoma, (5-1)

We admit, we're keeping the Sooners--who were idle this week--here because we're out of ideas. No, not really, but we see no reason to drop them and QB Kyler Murray still ranks 8th in the country in passing yards (1,764)

9. West Virginia, (5-1)

Credit Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell with making Ames a tough place to play. The Mountaineers became the Cyclones' latest victims on Saturday night. More troubling, though, for NFL scouts: QB Will Grier (11/15. 100 yards) looked ordinary once the Cyclones' D was able to stifle the pace of the WVU offense.

10. Texas, (6-1)

Are the Longhorns back in the national picture? Too soon to tell, but they eked out a home win over Baylor despite losing their starting QB to injury. RB Keaontay Ingram (19 carries, 110 yards vs. the Bears) won't make anyone around Austin forget Earl Campbell--or even Ricky Williams--anytime soon, but his progress may be worth monitoring.
