3 years agoNew York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against right-hander Michael Kopech and the Chicago White Sox. DJ LeMahieu will be covering the keystone for the contest. Torres has been showing some promising signs at the plate this year. His hard-hit rate is up from 35.7% last year to 52.4% this year and his average exit velocity (93.1 mph) ranks in the 95th percentile, up from 87.1 mph last year. His surface stats don't look great (.230/.269/.430 slash line, five home runs, 18 RBI), but the underlying metrics suggest better numbers could be ahead.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
