6 years agoLos Angeles Lakers center Ivica Zubac went for his first double-double of the year during his first start of the year Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans. With JaVale McGee sidelined due to an illness, Zubac (who was questionable to play due to an illness himself) entered the starting lineup for the first time since 2016-17 and finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds across 32 minutes, shooting 8-for-10 from the field. It figures that he could repeat his level of run Sunday against the Memphis Grizzlies should McGee sit out again, but this was the ultimate blip on the radar for a big man averaging 6.8 minutes per game entering the night.--Jesse Borek

3 years agoLos Angeles Clippers center Ivica Zubac hopes to remain with the team moving forward. The 25-year-old is coming off the best season of his career, averaging 10.3 points, 8.5 boards, and 1.0 blocks. L.A. holds a $7.5 million team option. However, he's also eligible for an extension this offseason. Nonetheless, Zubac logged only 24 minutes per game this year, which was detrimental for fantasy managers. A change of scenery may do him some good, especially from a workload standpoint. Yet, Zubac hasn't been a consistent producer, so he'll need to work on that for fantasy managers to benefit fully from his presence on their roster.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller

3 years agoLA Clippers center Ivica Zubac was able to compile his third straight double-double during Saturday's win over the Kings, needing just the first half to do so. Zubac has exceeded the 25-minute threshold just once over his past 10 outings, but that's primarily due to LA's Play-in Tournament positioning. With a matchup vs. Karl-Anthony Towns and the Timberwolves on tap, Zubac will be deployed early and often, with foul trouble presenting the greatest threat to him logging a double-double next week. The 25-year-old is set to finish the 2021-22 year with career highs in scoring (10.3) and rebounding (8.4) on a nightly basis, while also shooting 62.7% overall.--Jesse Borek

3 years agoLos Angeles Clippers center Ivica Zubac is the only member of the team's regular starting unit who is not getting the night off on Friday. However, Clippers head coach Ty Lue stated that Zubac "probably won't play too many minutes tonight." The seven-footer logged 32 minutes in the team's overtime loss to the Chicago Bulls on Thursday. Paul George, Reggie Jackson, Nicolas Batum and Marcus Morris Sr. all logged 32-plus minutes as well and each of those four players are being rested on Friday. Friday could be a golden opportunity for center Isaiah Hartenstein to come through with a sturdy double-double. He's a solid and sneaky DFS play and streaming option for the night. Robert Covington is also in position for a productive night.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller

3 years agoLA Clippers center Ivica Zubac finished with 22 points in 25 minutes during Tuesday's win over Houston, making him the team's leading scorer for just the second time this season. The big man also added 12 rebounds, giving him four double-doubles in his last five games. While Zubac's minutes have varied from as low as 18 to as high as 34 in that span, he has proven to be a perpetual double-double threat that also employs a strong shooting percentage (65.1%). His 9.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game are on pace to be a new career high, as his fantasy stock has reached its apex just ahead of the playoffs in season-long formats. With that said, his next outing comes Thursday vs. the Lakers, whom he has combined to play just 40 minutes against in two meetings this year due to matchup differences.--Jesse Borek
