Keegan Bradley Gaining With Putter Since March
2 years agoKeegan Bradley has gained half a stroke per round with his putter since March. This is a statistical revelation considering he has lost an average of -0.55 strokes per round over his last three years on tour. His incredible turnaround with the flat stick has seen him finish top-10 in five of his last nine regular starts, as his tee-to-green game has been sensational for most of his career. With a major weakness now neutralized, Bradley will be eyeing a win in the near future. Source: PGA Tour
Joaquin Niemann Can Go Low Enough To Win Scottish Open
2 years agoJoaquin Niemann has the length, approach play and short game to win tournaments on tour, validated by his record-setting win at the Genesis Invitational in February. However, Niemann has only gained strokes across all four major categories once since doing so at Riviera Country Club. If he can keep his concentration this week, he has the upside and all the skills needed to walk away from the Renaissance Club with his second win in four months.Source: PGA Tour
Christiaan Bezuidenhout Capable Of Hitting Driver Further
2 years agoAfter a one-on-one discussion with Christiaan Bezuidenhout's trainer at the John Deere Classic, he mentioned that Bezuidenhout has gained a full club worth of distance recently and can hit his driver further than his on-course metrics portray. The reason this has yet to come to fruition on the course is because the distance he has picked up off the tee, still leaves him with a carry yardage that will not fly most fairway bunkers which are roughly 295-305 yards from most tee boxes. However, Bezuidenhout may be forced to show off his disguised distance at a lengthy Renaissance Club this week. The rest of his game has sporadic upside, with his last five starts resulting in a T12, MC, T15, MC, and T2.Source: PGA Tour
Viktor Hovland Can Limit Poor Chipping On Links Course
2 years agoViktor Hovland's only major weakness is his around-the-green game, losing an average of 0.67 strokes per round this year. The rest of his game has been sensational for the most part. At a links-style course, the undulations and grass type around the green allow significantly more opportunities to putt your ball onto the putting surface, which should help Hovland turn a major weakness into a strength the next two weeks. If he can resort back to his brilliant ball-striking form and limit the damage around the greens, Hovland's skill profile is a great match for the Renaissance Club.Source: PGA Tour
Keith Mitchell Trending In The Right Direction
2 years agoKeith Mitchell is on a roll. He has posted back-to-back top-10 finishes, putting up a sixth-place finish at the Travelers Championship during his last start. Mitchell has played 13 events in 2022 and has finished in the top 20 eight times. He has been very solid in all aspects of his game, particularly from the tee box. Mitchell has gained strokes off the tee in eight of his last 10 events. The only real issue for Mitchell is his lack of success and experience on links golf courses. He has played The Open Championship twice, missing the cut both times. Based on his current form, he is more than worth his price in DFS. Mitchell also will not be highly owned given the loaded field at The Renaissance Club. He is certainly a solid DFS option based on his recent play, although his inexperience on links courses is cause for concern.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Matthew Fitzpatrick Looking For Consecutive Wins
2 years agoMatthew Fitzpatrick will tee it up for the first time since winning the US Open. He did so without gaining any strokes putting, which is a testament to his hard work on the ball striking front finally paying off. He now is considerably longer off the tee and that will come in handy at a long Renaissance Club this week. Fitzpatrick has been a consistent gainer in all four major stat categories this year and can lean on any aspect of his game to position himself towards the top of the leaderboard at the Scottish Open once again.Source: PGA Tour
Sungjae Im Is A Wild Card Heading Into The Scottish Open
2 years agoThis will be the first start for Sungjae Im (back) since the U.S. Open. Im was supposed to tee it up in Hartford at The Travelers Championship, but he was forced to withdraw due to back pain. Although weeks of rest may have healed his injury, it is still concerning he wasn't able to play since missing the cut at The Country Club. Still, Im is one of the most consistent players in the world. He has gained strokes on the field in five straight events and boasts the all-around game needed to navigate links golf courses. He has limited experience on links courses, having only played The Open Championship one time. He is a bit expensive in DFS, which will curb his ownership in most formats. He is a solid player and certainly has the talent to contend at The Renaissance Club. However, his recent injury and lack of experience playing on links courses are red flags that can't be ignored.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Tyrrell Hatton A Threat To Win At The Scottish Open
2 years agoTyrrell Hatton arrives at The Renaissance Club playing some pretty good golf. He has made the cut in eight of his last nine events, posting four top-25 finishes during that time. Hatton has shown the ability to win tournaments all around the world. He has posted at least one win in three straight years, his last victory coming at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in January of last year. The thing that makes Hatton such a threat this week is his success on links golf courses. He has won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship twice and has posted two top-five finishes at The Open Championship in the past five years. Add in the fact that Hatton finished T18 at this event last year, and he looks to be in for a great week. He is very affordable in DFS and shouldn't attract a ton of ownership. Hatton is a great DFS option and is worth an outright bet.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Marc Leishman Looks For Consistency At The Scottish Open
2 years agoIt has been an up-and-down stretch of golf for Marc Leishman. He has missed the cut in four of his last eight events and has not posted a top-10 finish since January. The main issue for the Australian has been his around-the-green game. He has lost strokes around the greens in five of his last eight tournaments and has not shown any signs of consistency. The positive for Leishman is he is a great links golf player. He has posted three top-10 finishes at The Open Championship, one of which was a playoff loss to Zach Johnson at St. Andrews. For this week, Leishman is fairly priced in DFS and won't get much attention in a loaded field. Based on current form, he is not a good DFS option, but his success on links courses and his ability to play in the wind make him an intriguing flier possibility.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Tommy Fleetwood Dependent On Tougher Conditions
2 years agoTommy Fleetwood's ball-striking has not been consistent enough for him to find himself regularly contending for wins, particularly on easier courses that require a multitude of birdie opportunities. His short game is the best aspect of his skill profile, and that is often emphasized when conditions get tougher and greens are harder to hit. His best finish this season was a T5 at the PGA Championship, where the winning score was five-under. If scores get low and he fails to afford himself enough birdie opportunities, he may find himself slipping out of contention as the week unfolds.Source: PGA Tour
Justin Thomas Looking To Capitalize On Revitalized Putter
2 years agoJustin Thomas heads to the Scottish Open refreshed after teeing it up last at the US Open a few weeks ago. He is also in incredible form with his relatively poor performance of T37 at the US Open resulting from some sloppy short game which is typically the most volatile area of a golf game. Thomas has shown he has all the shots in his arsenal to adapt to any conditions that he may find himself in on the links of the Renaissance Club. As one of the best ball strikers on tour over the last six years, Thomas is also in the midst of his best putting year since 2018, which explains his seven top-5s in his last 15 regular events.Source: PGA Tour
Jordan Spieth Hopes To Rebound After Poor Performance
2 years agoJordan Spieth had a strong late spring. He won The RBC Heritage and then finished second in his next start. In his last start at The Travelers, Spieth lost strokes in all key metrics outside putting. Spieth's play at The Travelers seems to be an outlier and he is a good option in DFS this week. He is reasonably priced for his caliber of golfer and is not projected to be highly owned. While not a good cash game play, he makes for a great GPP option. Source: PGA Tour
Max Homa Looks To Stay Hot
2 years agoMax Homa has been on the best run of his PGA career recently, making 10 consecutive cuts. Seven of those 10 have been top-20 finishes, including a win at the Wells Fargo in May. The statistics match the results, as Homa ranks fifth in the field on approach over his last 36 rounds, 14th off the tee and 10th in strokes gained putting. There isn't much negative to say about the Cal grad this week, other than him having a lack of experience on links-style courses. Still, his game has been too sharp to overlook Homa for that reason alone, and he looks to be a strong play this week in all formats.Source: Fantasy National
Scottie Scheffler Looks To Continue Great Form Abroad
2 years agoWorld No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is well-deserving of his top ranking. He has won three times this year. His strokes-gained data is even more impressive. Scheffler has only lost strokes from tee-to-green once this year. He has also only lost strokes on approach twice. Scheffler was a runner-up at The U.S. Open and recorded a top-20 finish at The Travelers. While Scheffler is expensive and popular, he is in play in all formats.Source: PGA Tour
Billy Horschel Ready To Contend This Week
2 years agoBilly Horschel has been across the pond for a few weeks now prepping for this week's Scottish Open and next week's Open Championship. Horschel won the BMW Championship at Wentworth in England last fall and is looking to continue his success in the UK. The 35-year-old is a month removed from his win at the Memorial and appears to be in a very good spot with his game and preparation for the upcoming few weeks in Scotland. Look for Horschel to contend over the weekend this week. Source: Fantasy National
