2 years agoGary Woodland showed some nice form in his last start at The U.S. Open. Woodland had missed the cut in three out of his past four starts before Brookline. He finished in 10th place and gained 10.4 strokes total. Woodland is very reasonably priced across the industry and is expected to be low-owned. In large field GPPs, Woodland could offer some nice upside. --Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoCollin Morikawa looks to defend his Open title next week at St. Andrews. But first, he looks to play well at The Scottish Open. Morikawa finished in fifth place in his last start at The U.S. Open. Morikawa has clearly shown that he can play well on a links-style golf course. Over his last 24 rounds, the two time major champion ranks 14th in strokes gained approach and 15th in strokes gained ball-striking. Morikawa looks to have a reasonable projected ownership and is a recommended play in all formats. --Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoJustin Rose enters the week with two top-13 finishes in his last four starts, including a fourth-place finish at the RBC Canadian Open. He has gained strokes tee to green in three of his last four starts and has been heating up with the putter, gaining 2.2 strokes on average against the field over his last five events. The Englishman is also very comfortable playing on links style courses which could be advantageous this week. The 41-year-old is a good DFS play although may not be worth a bet in the outright market. --Matt Miller - RotoBallerSource: Fantasy National

2 years agoCameron Smith has struggled since the calendar flipped to June, recording a best finish of T48 in the month, as well as missing the cut at the U.S. Open. Smith will now make his final preparations for the final major of the season at the Scottish Open this week. Smith hasn't played in the Scottish Open since 2018, when he finished T42, which has the last season before the event moved to it's current home course, the Renaissance Club. Even with his recent struggles, Smith still sits inside the top-15 on tour in strokes gained on approach, putting, and total. Smith will have a very fair DFS price this week, and should be considered in all contests. --Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoPatrick Cantlay heads to Scotland this week looking to bounce back from his final-round collapse at the Travelers Championship two weeks ago. The former UCLA Bruin was in the final group and carded a six-over 76 to finish T13. Despite his Sunday shortcomings at the Travelers, the 30-year-old has been in great form recently. He has finished inside the top 14 in each of his last three starts and has gained strokes in all major statistical categories during that stretch. Cantlay does not spend a ton of time playing overseas, but he did finish T12 at the 2018 Open Championship, showing that he can perform on links-style courses.--Matt Miller - RotoBallerSource: Fantasy National

2 years agoCameron Young was on a roll where he nearly won a tournament three times in a row. A third, second, and third was quite a run including the PGA Championship. At The Memorial, Young looked poised to make it 4-for-4 then disaster struck that weekend culminating in a final-round 84 that he has not recovered from as of yet. Young missed the US Open cut since and that has been that. He hits the ball nearly 320 off the tee and gains almost a full stroke (0.921) there (second on tour). The concern is his shot making around the greens and sometimes his putting. If he can put it together even a bit, Young could surprise this week.--Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: PGATour.com

2 years agoMito Pereira has missed the cut in his last two tournaments. The Chilean did mount a furious rally at the Travelers before coming up just short of making the cut. The back to back bogeys did not help and that plagued him at the US Open as well. Pereira can hit greens well (ranks 11th) and ranks 17th when it comes to strokes gained tee-to-green (1.227). However, his putting is around average and can be very hot and cold. See last week's wild ride as an example. However, he has bounced back well all year after poor performances. The beat goes on this week overseas. --Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: PGATour.com

2 years agoSam Burns is ranked ninth in the world for a reason. The American golfer did struggle at the Travelers but before that, he has played rather well since March. Consider that he won the Valspar and the Charles Schwab tournaments. He nearly won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans as well. When his form is on, Burns is on. When Burns is off, there are problems like the weekend at the US Open and yes the Masters too. He is one of the better putters gaining 0.58 strokes overall and more than a stroke from tee-to-green. That ranks him 8th among golfers for strokes gained total. Simply, Burns expects to be that factor this weekend.--Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: PGATour.com

2 years agoIt seems like lately, Corey Connors is in contention everywhere that is not a major. Aside from the mentioned US Open and PGA Championship, the Canadian has finished in the top-21 in those five other tournaments. That includes two tied for sixths as well. He nearly came back to win the Canadian Open with a final round 62 that was one of the best rounds that entire weekend. Connors can play in most conditions, drives the ball 300 yards, and is accurate with the irons and woods. He is 26th in driving accuracy and 5th in greens-in-regulation. That should serve him well this week. --Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: PGATour.com

2 years agoHideki Matsuyama returns this week at the Scottish Open after his fourth-place finish at the U.S. Open in his last start. That finish was Matsuyama's sixth top-10 finish of the season, including his two wins. However, with all of his success this season, Matsuyama is priced well below where he should be this week. In most contests this week, Matsuyama is outside the top-10 most expensive DFS players in the field. It is a strong field in Scotland, but Matsuyama is well deserving of a higher DFS price this week. Matsuyama is third on tour in strokes gained on approach, and 10th in strokes gained tee to green, and as always, will go as far as his putter will take him. But at his DFS price, he should be considered in every lineup this week. --Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoAaron Rai had an excellent first three rounds at the Traveler's last week until three bogeys on the front nine did him in. That being said, Rai was able to keep the ball in play and putt a bit above his -0.057 strokes gained from putting. His accuracy helps him gain about a half stroke based on 61 rounds of scoring. If the wind shows its teeth at the Scottish Open, Rai could very well contend into the weekend. Since he only hits about 295 off the tee, his drives do not get impacted as much. --Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: PGATour.com

2 years agoComing off his second win of the season at the Travelers Championship, Xander Schauffele will tee it up in Scotland this week. Schauffele is no stranger to the Scottish Open, as he finished T10 in the event last season at 14-under par. As recent results show, Schauffele is one of, if not the hottest player on the PGA Tour right now. In a six-tournament stretch from April 24th through June 26th, Schauffele finished no worse than T18 with three top-five finishes, and two wins. With that, Schauffele now sits inside the top-eight on tour in strokes gained on approach, tee to green, and total. In DFS this week, Schauffele is incredibly underpriced, and should be considered in all contests.--Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoJon Rahm will tee it up for the first time since the U.S. Open in the Genesis Scottish Open this week in preparation for The Open Championship next week. Rahm will be one of the few PGA Tour players who have history, and a good result at the Renaissance Club. Last season Rahm finished seventh at the Scottish Open, at 16-under par. In DFS, Rahm will be one of the top-three most expensive players in the field, but is still a great option, even at the price. Rahm is the best player on the PGA Tour in strokes gained off the tee, fifth in strokes gained tee to green, and sixth in strokes gained total. Look for Rahm to be in contention on Sunday once again in Scotland.--Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoScottie Scheffler is world No. 1 for a reason. This year, he has three wins and two second-place finishes. Scheffler's strokes-gained data is just as consistent for this year. He has been excelling from tee-to-green and on his approach. While it is no secret that you must consider the top-ranked player in the world, Scheffler could put himself in contention this week. His current ownership projections are not too high either. Scheffler must be considered in all formats this week.--Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

2 years agoHarold Varner recorded a missed cut at The U.S. Open last week. However, that was his first missed cut since The Genesis in February. Before the U.S. Open, Varner gained strokes tee-to-green in seven straight events. At The Canadian Open, he gained 5.7 on approach and 10.5 tee-to-green. While Varner doesn't have excellent course history, his form could offer some nice value for him. The recent missed cut could keep some from rostering him and his ownership down. --Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour
