Sepp Straka Trending Down Into PGA Championship
3 years agoSince his top-five finish at the RBC Heritage, Sepp Straka has struggled over his last three starts. After missing the cut at both the Zurich Classic and Wells Fargo Championship, Straka finished T73 last week at the AT&T Byron Nelson. Straka has been one of the toughest players to figure out this season, due to his inconsistency. Before his win at the Honda Classic, Straka only had two finishes inside the top-20 in his first 13 starts. Then after his win, Straka has two top-ten finishes in his last eight starts. With that much inconsistency, it's hard to consider Straka as someone to trust this week, going into only the second PGA Championship start of his career.Source: PGA Tour
Aaron Wise Looking For Major Championship Success
3 years agoAaron Wise is still looking for his first bit of success in a major championship, and that could come this week in Tulsa. Wise has had a nice season up to this point, sitting inside the top-60 in the FedEx Cup standings, with three top-10 finishes. Between the four majors, Wise has had his most success at the PGA Championship. Wise has made two of three cuts at the PGA Championship in his career and has his best finish in a major at the PGA, a T17 last season. Wise will have no issues off the tee or on approach this week, but the putting is the issue. Last week at the Byron Nelson, Wise lost -.875 strokes on the greens, which is something he cannot do this week if he wants to see the weekend. Wise does have risk but is worth a look this week in all contests.Source: PGA Tour
Mito Pereira Continues To Impress In 2022
3 years agoIn his first full season on the PGA Tour, Mito Pereira continues to show he belongs. Since The Genesis Invitational, Pereira has made six of eight cuts, racking up three top-20's and has finished no worse than T30 in his made cuts. Now Pereira will have a chance to keep his season rolling as he makes his first PGA Championship start this week in Tulsa. Pereira won't struggle with the distance of Southern Hills, as he averages over 300 yards per drive, and is one of the best players on tour with an iron in his hand. Pereira sits fourth on tour in greens in regulation percentage, and 13th on tour in strokes gained on approach, which will be huge this week. The question for Pereira will be on the greens. His inconsistency when putting has been the only thing holding him back this season, but at his DFS price, he is worth a look either way this week in Tulsa. Source: PGA Tour
Matt Kuchar Continues To Play Well Into PGA Championship
3 years agoMake it five straight made cuts and four top-20 finishes in those five starts for Matt Kuchar. Kuchar has turned his game around from his early season struggles and now sits inside the top 40 in the FedEx Cup standings. For Kuchar, another major championship start is nothing new, as he's making his 14th start in the PGA Championship in his career, but he is still looking for his first major win. Although seeing Kuchar take the trophy on Sunday afternoon isn't something many people think can happen, we had something crazy happen at the 2021 PGA Championship, so why not in 2022? At his DFS price, Kuchar is a steal. In his price range, no one is playing as well as Kuchar over the past three months, and he should be considered a sleeper this week.Source: PGA Tour
Corey Conners Has Great Value At PGA Championship
3 years agoHaving not missed a cut since The Genesis Invitational in early February, Corey Conners comes into the PGA Championship looking to build off his top-10 in the first major of the season at the Masters. Since the API, Conners hasn't finished worse than T35, and has four top-12 finishes. Since the start of 2021, Conners has only missed the cut in one of five major championships, with an average finish of ninth in those five starts. With Conners, his success all comes to down to his ability with the putter. Conners has strongly improved that part of his game in the last couple seasons, but consistency is now the issue. Over his last two starts, Conners has gained over .400 strokes on the greens in both, reaching .606 in his last start at the Wells Fargo Championship. At his incredibly cheap DFS price, it will be hard to find better value than Conners this week in Tulsa. Source: PGA Tour
Viktor Hovland Looking For Turnaround At PGA
3 years agoSince his incredible run to end the fall swing and into the beginning of 2022, Viktor Hovland has slowed down over the past few months. Hovland recorded three top-nine finishes in his first five starts of 2022 but hasn't recorded a finish better than T18 since the Valspar Championship in March. In his major championship career, Hovland hasn't had his "moment" yet. However, Hovland has yet to miss a cut in a major championship, besides a WD in the U.S. Open last season, but he hasn't had that marquee finish yet. However, even without a big major championship moment, Hovland has the skill to breakout. His recent play will likely keep many fantasy owners away, but Hovland has an incredibly high floor this week, as making the cut is a worst-case scenario for Hovland in Tulsa. Source: PGA Tour
Daniel Berger Overlooked Coming Into PGA
3 years agoOnly making his second start in the last five weeks, Daniel Berger is looking to capture his first major championship this week in Tulsa. In his eight starts this season, Berger has three top-15 finishes, and has only missed one cut, which came back in February. In his career, Berger hasn't missed a cut at the PGA Championship since the 2017 season and has a best finish of T12 in the event, which came in 2018. In terms of fantasy golf, Berger is a forgotten man in this field. With his lack of play this season, Berger's DFS price is lower than it should be, especially in a major championship. Berger hasn't been priced this low since the start of the season, which could be a huge steal, as Berger has the game to compete this week in Tulsa. Source: PGA Tour
Dustin Johnson Looking For PGA Championship Win In Tulsa
3 years agoDustin Johnson has finished second multiple times in the PGA Championship in his career but is still looking to add a third major championship to his resume. However, in his two starts since the Masters in April, Johnson has finished no better than T59, which came last week at the AT&T Byron Nelson. In that event, Johnson hit a season-high 76.39% of greens in regulation but paired that with his worst putting performance this season as well. Even with his struggles last week, Johnson hasn't lost strokes on the greens in a major championship since the 2019 U.S. Open. His greens percentage is very encouraging, and his putter should come around this week. His DFS price is more than fair for someone with his skill set and might end up as a sleeper this week in Tulsa. Source: PGA Tour
Si Woo Kim Is A Wild Card At The PGA Championship
3 years agoSi Woo Kim heads to Southern Hills fresh off a missed cut at the Byron Nelson last week. The missed cut ended Kim's streak of 13 cuts made, a run that dated back to the CJ Cup last year. He has been incredibly consistent this season, gaining strokes from tee-to-green in 10 of his last 11 events. Despite his consistent play, his track record in major championships is a cause for concern. In 20 major championship starts, Kim has not posted a top-10 finish. His best result in a major came at the 2021 Masters, where he finished T12. He will be low-owned in DFS formats and is priced fairly. However, his lack of major success may be too much of a red flag to confidently roster him this week.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Kevin Kisner Aims To Get Back On Track At Southern Hills
3 years agoThe last few weeks have not been the best for Kevin Kisner. He enters the PGA Championship having missed the cut in his past two starts, including a missed cut at the Byron Nelson last week. The concern with Kisner is he is off with his putter, losing at least 1.4 strokes putting in his last two tournaments. This is out of character for Kisner, who ranks 18th in strokes gained putting on the PGA Tour this year. He is a pretty decent course fit for Southern Hills given his ability to get up and down and succeed in windy conditions. He will come in at a low DFS ownership and won't be on many people's radar, but it may be too big of a task for Kisner to contend at the PGA Championship given his current form and the loaded field at this event.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Marc Leishman Off His Game Entering PGA Championship
3 years agoIt has been a string of inconsistency for Marc Leishman over the past few months. He has missed the cut in three of his last six events and has lost strokes from tee-to-green in four of his last six starts. Going off his current form, Leishman isn't a strong option in DFS or the betting market. However, at a course that will put a premium on the short game and the ability to navigate windy conditions, it does set up well for the Australian. The more difficult the course plays, the more it favors a player like Leishman. He is a tad expensive in DFS given his current play, but he could be a good sleeper option in large-scale tournaments.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Christiaan Bezuidenhout In Great Form Ahead Of The PGA Championship
3 years agoChristiaan Bezuidenhout arrives in Oklahoma in great form, especially with the putter. Bezuidenhout finished in 12th-place last week at The Byron Nelson. The South African gained 8.1 strokes putting last week. Bezuidenhout is known as an excellent putter, and last week helped him get out of a minor slump. He had lost strokes putting three out of his last four tournaments before playing in Texas last week. Bezuidenhout should like Southern Hills. He is an excellent around the green player, which should come in handy, Bezuidenhout is a great GPP play. Source: PGA Tour
Jon Rahm Eyeing Second Major Championship
3 years agoJon Rahm heads to Tulsa, Oklahoma, this week in search of his second major championship victory. Rahm enters the week with some confidence after winning the Mexico Open in his last start. The Spaniard is No. 1 in the field in ball-striking over the last 24 rounds, which should be an important statistic given the difficulty of Southern Hills. It will take a complete game to win this week on these small greens with difficult runoffs. The former world No. 1 surely has the tee-to-green game to contend but has struggled around the greens, losing strokes in six of his last seven events. He will need to clean that up if he hopes to win this week.Source: Fantasy National
Hideki Matsuyama A Popular Choice This Week
3 years agoHideki Matsuyama put the injury concerns behind him after two strong performances. Matsuyama finished in 14th place at The Masters and third place last week at The Byron Nelson. Matsuyama gained 9.4 strokes on approach last week. He also excelled tee-to-green, gaining 10.4 strokes. His recent form will bring his ownership projections high. However, it is hard to ignore his recent form. Matsuyama has played well at this major, most notably finishing in fifth-place in 2017. Source: PGA Tour
Justin Rose Not In Good Form Ahead Of The PGA Championship
3 years agoJustin Rose arrives at The PGA Championship off three straight missed cuts. Rose poor play has been surprising after he finished in sixth place at The Farmers. Rose has now lost strokes on approach and tee-to-green in three straight events. Rose did have an incredible PGA Championship last year. He finished in eighth place and lost strokes tee-to-green and on approach. His result was due because of a hot putter. He gained an astounding 11.7 strokes putting that week. Rose is not a recommended play.Source: PGA Tour
