2 years agoChicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners. He returned from the injured list on Monday, but didn't play in that contest. The switch-hitter will bat second and play third base against right-hander Logan Gilbert on Tuesday. Moncada is slashing .197/.269/.313 with seven homers, 40 RBI this season. Fantasy managers can stream Moncada at their own risk, but there should be better options available.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

2 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (neck) is back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He missed the series opener on Monday due to a neck issue. Although, the injury sounds minor, so fantasy managers shouldn't have anything to worry about with Myers. He'll play first base and bat seventh against right-hander Merrill Kelly on Tuesday. Fantasy managers can go ahead and get Myers back in their lineups.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

2 years agoOakland Athletics outfielder Ramon Laureano (oblique) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. The 28-year-old will return to the starting lineup after missing three weeks due to a Grade 1 left oblique strain. Laureano will bat second and cover center field against right-hander Kyle Wright on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should double check their lineup and make sure Laureano is back in there. He won't be a recommended streaming option in a tough matchup against Wright.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

2 years agoSan Francisco Giants catcher Joey Bart (concussion) has been activated off the 7-day concussion list. The 25-year-old missed exactly a week due to concussion-like symptoms. Bart will be behind the plate and bat seventh against left-hander Tyler Anderson on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, Andrew Knapp has been designated for assignment by the organization. Austin Wynns will resume his role as the backup catcher behind Bart.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs activated left-hander Wade Miley (shoulder) from the injured list on Tuesday and designated pitcher Luke Farrell for assignment in a corresponding move. Miley is returning to the team's starting rotation and will start on Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds. The 35-year-old veteran southpaw has made only four starts this year, but he's allowed only six earned runs on 15 hits while walking eight and striking out 12 in 19 innings. Miley doesn't bring much fantasy upside with his 7.1 career K/9, but he's returning to a nice matchup against Cincinnati and is worth a look as a streamer in deeper formats if you still need innings.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Chicago Tribune - Meghan Montemurro

2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs placed catcher Willson Contreras (ankle) on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain on Tuesday and reinstated Michael Hermosillo from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. The Cubs also designated Nicholas Padilla for assignment. Contreras' injured list stint is retroactive to Sept. 3. The All-Star backstop missed the series against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend with more pain in his sprained left ankle. With the 30-year-old on the shelf, Yan Gomes and P.J. Higgins will share catching duties for Chicago. Contreras has been a no-brainer must-start at the weak catching position in fantasy this year, as he's slashed .246/.351/.471 with an .822 OPS, 21 home runs, 54 RBI, 63 runs scored and four stolen bases in 395 at-bats.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Taylor McGregor

2 years agoNew York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back, head) will be placed on the injured list, according to skipper Aaron Boone. First baseman Ronald Guzman will be added to the active roster in a corresponding move on Wednesday. Rizzo received an epidural injection for his back injury last week, and he's been experiencing headaches ever since. There's no timetable for his return, and there's a chance he could miss most of the final month of the regular season in September. The 33-year-old veteran left-handed slugger has hit just .225 on the season, but he also has a .339 on-base percentage, 30 homers, 71 RBI, 71 runs and six stolen bases. Infielder DJ LeMahieu will likely continue seeing most of the playing time at first base for however long Rizzo is sidelined.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Athletic - Lindsey Adler

2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler (forearm) played a little catch on Tuesday. Wheeler was pulled from his originally scheduled start on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins with renewed soreness in his right forearm. If he doesn't have any setbacks after throwing on Tuesday, he could move to a bullpen session later this week. The 32-year-old will be hoping to return to the team's rotation sooner than later, but there's not much time left in the regular season this month for him to make a fantasy impact for those still playing for a championship. In 23 starts in 2022, the veteran right-hander has gone 11-7 with a 3.07 ERA (2.97 FIP), a 1.08 WHIP, 148 strikeouts and 33 walks in 138 innings.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Athletic - Matt Gelb

2 years agoCincinnati Reds rookie right-hander Hunter Greene (shoulder) is making another minor league rehab start on Tuesday for Triple-A Louisville. Greene threw scoreless innings in his first rehab outing last Thursday and he recovered well enough to make another start early this week. Look for the 23-year-old to build his pitch count up even more after he threw 27 pitches last week. He's expected to be able to return before the end of the 2022 season, but the Reds won't rush him back. Greene will continue to be very popular in fantasy drafts next year because of his strikeout upside, but he has struggled a bit to the tune of a 5.26 ERA (4.95 FIP) and a 1.29 WHIP in 20 starts while striking out 127 and walking 41 in 102 2/3 innings in his first MLB season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Bobby Nightengale

2 years agoCincinnati Reds second baseman Jonathan India (knee) is back at second base and is batting leadoff on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs and left-hander Wade Miley. India was injured and had to leave the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday, but he was able to heal up during the team's off day on Monday. It's been a disappointing year for last year's National League Rookie of the Year, as he's been in and out of the lineup due to various injuries. India is hitting .265/.335/.412 with nine home runs, 32 RBI, 39 runs scored and two stolen bases in 322 plate appearances over 76 games. The good news is he's gone 22-for-65 (.339) with two homers, eight RBI and 12 runs scored in 17 games since Aug. 16. Get him back into your fantasy lineups.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Baseball Press

2 years agoThe Miami Marlins activated outfielder Avisail Garcia (hamstring) from the injured list on Tuesday and optioned Peyton Burdick to Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move. Garcia will immediately return to the starting lineup on Tuesday against Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola, as he's starting in right field and hitting cleanup. The 31-year-old veteran will be playing in his first major league game since Aug. 2, but he did get six minor league games to shake the rust off before he was reinstated. Garcia will return to being Miami's regular right fielder to close out the 2022 season. In 323 at-bats this year, he's slashing .232/.269/.322 with seven long balls, 30 RBI, 29 runs scored and four stolen bases.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Miami Herald - Jordan McPherson

2 years agoMiami Marlins second baseman Jon Berti (hip) is back at second base and is hitting leadoff on Tuesday against Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola. Berti missed almost a full week with a hip injury, but he'll return to face the Phils on Tuesday. The 32-year-old has mostly been useful in fantasy for his speed, as he leads baseball with 32 stolen bases in 75 games played this year. Overall, he's slashing .259/.349/.365 with only three home runs, 21 RBI and 35 runs scored in 292 plate appearances. His fantasy managers will be hoping he can finish the season strong after he hit just .222 (14-for-63) with a homer, two RBI, three runs scored, four steals and 16 strikeouts in 17 games in August.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Baseball Press

2 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays activated right-hander Yonny Chirinos (elbow) from the 60-day injured list on Tuesday and placed right-hander Drew Rasmussen on the paternity list in a corresponding move. Chirinos has Tommy John surgery in August of 2020 and hasn't pitched in the big leagues since. In three different minor league stops during his rehab outing, he had a 5.12 ERA and 1.24 WHIP while striking out 14 and walking six in 19 1/3 innings over nine appearances (five starts). Given the 28-year-old's long layoff, he's unlikely to be used all that often down the stretch, but he could serve as the bulk pitcher behind JT Chargois on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox after Rasmussen was scratched.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Rays Communications

2 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Drew Rasmussen was scratched from his scheduled start on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox and placed on the paternity list. With Rasmussen leaving the team for a few days, JT Chargois will step in as the opener on Tuesday against Boston, but he won't have much fantasy appeal as a streamer. The 27-year-old Rasmussen could return to make his next start at some point this weekend against the New York Yankees. He's been very strong for the Rays and fantasy managers this year, going 9-4 with a 2.70 ERA (3.23 FIP), a 1.05 WHIP, 103 strikeouts and 27 walks in 116 2/3 innings over 23 starts in his first full season with the Rays.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Tampa Bay Times - Marc Topkin

2 years agoPittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes (shoulder) is back at third base and is hitting fifth on Tuesday against the New York Mets and right-hander Taijuan Walker. Hayes missed a couple games with left shoulder discomfort, but he's back in there on Tuesday for the Bucs and fantasy managers. The 25-year-old has only played in one game so far in September, and he hit just .227 (15-for-66) with a homer, seven RBI, three runs scored and 19 strikeouts in 18 games in August. Fantasy managers will be hoping he can pick it up at the plate to close out the final season of 2022. Overall, Hayes is hitting .242/.311/.346 with six home runs, 36 RBI, 44 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 422 at-bats in his third big-league season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Baseball Press
