Steven Matz Goes On Injured List, Dominic Smith Recalled

5 years agoThe New York Mets placed starting pitcher Steven Matz (forearm) on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with radial nerve discomfort in his arm and recalled first baseman Dominic Smith from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move. Matz received an injection this week and is hoping to only miss a start or two, so he should remain stashed in most mixed leagues. Wilmer Font might receive another spot start but doesn't have much fantasy upside. Smith had 10 hits in 30 at-bats (.333) with four RBI before being sent down initially, but he'll likely struggle for consistent playing time again with Peter Alonso manning first base regularly.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
