3 years agoLeft-handed starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi informed the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday that he has declined his player option, which makes him a free agent heading into 2022. The Mariners also announced that they won't pick up the option on third baseman Kyle Seager. Kikuchi struggled in the second half of 2021 after going 6-4 with a 3.48 ERA as the team's lone All-Star selection in the first half. He went 1-5 with a 5.98 ERA over his final 13 outings and was taken out of the rotation for the stretch run. Seattle declined their option for Kikuchi, which would've locked him in for $66 million over four years. Kikuchi declined his player option for $13 million in 2022. In his three seasons with the M's the southpaw went 15-24 with a 4.97 ERA in 70 starts.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
