One and Done Selections - Mexico Open at Vidanta
Joe Nicely - Gary Woodland
Alternate - Davis Riley
Having the Zurich Classic and Mexico Open in back-to-back weeks makes me question lots of things, the primary of which is, does the PGA Tour need some NFL-style “Bye” weeks? Oh well, action is action, I suppose, so we head south of the border for this brand-new event.
Jon Rahm is undoubtedly head and shoulders above the rest of this field, but using him in a OAD contest this week sort of feels like using a bazooka to kill a spider. After Rahm, things get pretty murky, pretty quick, which is normally a sign to start thinking outside the box.
While I considered going in several directions for this event, I landed on what’s a pretty vanilla choice in Gary Woodland. I’ve always loved his talent, but have been very concerned about his health in recent years. Woodland seems to have put those worries to bed for the moment, as he’s looked downright spry in recent months by posting a pair of top-fives during the Florida Swing and a top-10 at Valero. This layout should fit him nicely and he’s not a player that I have any grand plans for down the road.

Spencer Aguiar - Tony Finau
Alternate - Cameron Tringale
I've beaten the drum the entire week on all platforms that this could be a spot where Tony Finau can find the winner's circle again, and I am sticking to my guns in the RotoBaller OAD contest.
Finau is the only golfer in this field who grades in the top-16 in all categories on my model, and his pristine iron play should fit nicely on a course where he will get slower greens. That second part is important because he can be a little more forceful and aggressive with his putts if he can pin hunt for four days, and I think he walks out of Mexico as the champion if he continues to trend positively with his second shots.

Andrew Putters - Chris Kirk
Alternate - Tony FInau
Chris Kirk grades out as a top-five player in the field this week. He is great on what the community is calling “resort” style golf courses. He also is a birdie machine. If Chris can have an okay putting week, I can see him making a push to win this week. As for Tony, I also love him on this track. He grades out 15th in my model, which is a little surprising, considering how his results have been as of late. I really do not believe you can go wrong with either player this week, but for me, I am going with Kirk. I feel is a little more reliable at this time.
