Spencer Aguiar - Jordan Spieth

Alternate - Si Woo Kim

Boy, oh boy. I wish I still had Corey Conners at my disposal for the Valero Texas Open, but I took care of that very early in the season after I used him during the first event of this contest. Perhaps it could turn into a blessing in disguise since I expect Conners to be one of the more popular selections from the industry, but there isn't much that I disliked about his profile, including his 2019 triumph at the event.

While not getting an opportunity to use the number one player on my model and former champion of this tournament stings, let's pivot to another former winner and the next man up when I run this event for upside. Jordan Spieth will likely go under the radar when we look at his current form, but the statistical makeup is beyond enticing and includes multiple top-15 placements in weighted tee to green, TPC data, wind play, par-four scoring from 350-400 yards, par-five birdie or better percentage and weighted proximity, which might be the key to this puzzle since any semblance of iron play from the 28-year-old could turn this into a back-to-back victory party.

Yearly Earnings - $3,936,693
Yearly Cuts Made - 11/11

Matt Miller - Luke List

Alternate -

After having my OAD pick knocked out in the group stage of the WGC Match Play last week, it's time to mix it up a bit. This week I will be going with Luke List, who finished in 17th at this event a year ago. List is entering this week with really strong ball striking stats over his last 36 rounds and his driving distance (5th on tour this year) should only help him on this course.
He finally got the monkey off of his back earlier this year with his win at Torrey Pines and although I wouldn't suggest the flood gates are going to open for him, it gives me confidence that it could indeed happen. The 37-year-old has been nothing short of terrible putting lately but we know that putting is the most volatile of all stats and can flip any week. If he can putt close to even with the field this week, he should be in great shape.

Yearly Earnings - $1,463,403
Yearly Cuts Made - 9/11

Owen Vrabel

Alternate -

Pick to come!

Yearly Earnings - $4,384,764
Yearly Cuts Made - 9/11

Josh Bennett - Matt Kuchar

Alternate - Charley Hoffman

I was really wishing I didn’t have some questions about Charley Hoffman’s golfing abilities right now for the Charley Hoffman Open so I could just make that pick and move on to the Masters, but it seems he isn’t playing great at the moment (maybe injury related) so I’m looking elsewhere. I typically don’t like to do the motivation narrative thing, but I think I’m going to use it this time around as I think it helps make the case for Kuchar this week. Although it's not my ONLY reason for using Kuchar, obviously he is not in the Masters next week and needs a win this week, so he has likely been prepping hard to make a push to win so he can get in the field that he’s previously been in for quite some time over his career. Although he’s not in the greatest form in terms of finish position (other than his last time out with a 16th place finish), his numbers don’t indicate he’s actually playing that poorly so I’m willing to look past that. He’s also got some solid history in this event that includes a handful of top 15 finishes, so I think he should be able to build on that and make a run at a victory this week so he can hop on the flight over to Augusta on Sunday night.

Yearly Earnings - $2,206,661
Yearly Cuts Made - 8/11

Andrew Putters - Corey Conners

Alternate - Abraham Ancer

What can I say bad about Corey Conners?  We are just waiting for this guy to break out into superstardom. His overall ball-striking numbers are just through the roof. He showed some of his game last week in the WGC Dell Match Play. The TPC San Antonio calls for accuracy with distance off the tee, good proximity numbers, and good par 5 scoring. These are areas in which Conners thrives week in and week out. Putting numbers have not seemed to matter here as much through the years. I am guessing this is the case because of the large putting surfaces that the players will encounter this week. All signs are pointing to Conners.

Yearly Earnings - $2,389,504
Yearly Cuts Made - 7/11
