Chet Holmgren Racks Up 16 Points, 10 Boards On Monday
2 years agoOklahoma City Thunder center Chet Holmgren had yet another strong performance in Monday's Summer League game against the Orlando Magic. He compiled 16 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two blocks while shooting 7-for-10 from the field and 2-for-4 from three-point range. The second overall pick in this year's draft certainly hasn't disappointed this summer. He's been regularly providing ample rebounds, blocks and three-pointers. His skillset is extremely fantasy-friendly and with no one standing in the way of his playing time on the Thunder, he's someone worth reaching for in fantasy drafts this fall.Source: NBA.com
Jabari Smith Jr. Drops 23 With Full Stat Line Monday
2 years agoHouston Rockets power forward/center Jabari Smith Jr. had a strong showing in the team's Summer League game against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. He shot 6-for-12 from the field, connecting on three of his five three-point attempts while racking up 23 points, nine rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block. This was his best overall Summer League game thus far by a wide margin. He had shot just 9-for-29 from the field across his first two games. Smith should see plenty of playing time as a rookie in 2022-23, making him a solid late-round target in fantasy drafts.Source: NBA.com
Nikola Jovic Doesn't Practice On Monday
2 years agoMiami Heat forward Nikola Jovic (quad) was unable to practice on Monday. This quad issue seems minor, but the team will likely be cautious with Jovic. He has shown flashes in the Summer League, but is unlikely to play a big role in the rotation. The Heat roster is crowded, so head coach Erik Spoelstra is unlikely to give meaningful minutes to Jovic. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect the No. 27 pick to make much of an impact right away.Source: Anthony Chiang
Omer Yurtseven Doesn't Practice On Monday
2 years agoMiami Heat center Omer Yurtseven (quad) was unable to practice on Monday. The team is going to take the cautious approach and rest Yurtseven during Tuesday's summer league contest. He tweaked his quad during the World Cup qualifiers, so there's a good chance won't play at all in Las Vegas. The expectation is that Yurtseven will be fine by training camp. However, he'll likely be a non-factor in fantasy leagues with Bam Adebayo healthy.Source: Anthony Chiang
Pacers Have Serious Interest In Deandre Ayton
2 years agoThe Indiana Pacers are reportedly serious about bringing in Deandre Ayton this summer. The superstar big man wants a max deal, but the Phoenix Suns appear unwilling to do that. The Pacers are expected to move on from Myles Turner, so a sign-and-trade between the two teams could be possible. Phoenix will be given the chance to match any offer that Ayton receives this offseason. The Pacers appear serious about signing Ayton, so maybe a sign-and-trade would be a great solution for the two sides.Source: Realgm.com
Malcolm Brogdon Committed To Being Sixth Man
2 years agoBoston Celtics guard Malcolm Brogdon will have a new role heading into next season. The 29-year-old was traded from the Indiana Pacers earlier this offseason. The veteran guard was a starter in Indiana, but is expected to be a sixth man with Boston. Head coach Brad Stevens recently mentioned that he wants Brogdon to embrace his role as the sixth man. It sounds like Brogdon is all in and willing to do whatever it takes to win a championship. This move should downgrade his fantasy value, but he should still have value, assuming he can stay healthy.Source: Chris Forsberg
Neemias Queta Stars In Summer League Before Early Exit
2 years agoSacramento Kings center Neemias Queta (calf) was on track to deliver a significant showing during Sunday's Summer League win over Indiana before a sore left calf scuttled his performance. Queta collected 12 points on 5-for-6 shooting across 17 minutes, snatching seven rebounds and adding four blocks. One of his makes from the field was a three, something he did not so much as attempt in a 14-game stint with the Kings last year. There is set to be considerable competition in the Sacramento frontcourt to begin the season, but Queta -- a second-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft -- could prove to be valuable depth with a strong skill set to boot.Source: ESPN
Dennis Smith Jr. To Hold Private Workout
2 years agoUnrestricted free-agent guard Dennis Smith Jr. will hold a private workout on Monday, with 10 NBA teams expected to attend. The 2017 No. 9 overall pick has bounced around since entering the league. He last played in Portland in 2021-22, where he averaged 5.6 points, 3.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.2 steals. There's a good chance he will find a new home. However, if Smith lands a contract, he'll likely be a deep bench piece, meaning he won't have any fantasy value. Yet, even if he somehow carves out a consistent spot in a rotation, his shooting percentages will need to improve.Source: Chris Haynes
Dalen Terry Has Seven Turnovers In Loss
2 years agoChicago Bulls guard Dalen Terry finished with 13 points across 27 minutes during the loss to the Knicks in Summer League. The rookie went 3-for-7 from the field and 1-for-3 from deep while adding three assists, one rebound, and one block. However, he had a game-high seven turnovers, which has been a consistent issue throughout his time in Las Vegas. Nonetheless, Terry needs to figure out how to control the ball because if he doesn't, he may not see the floor as often as expected in 2022-23.Source: ESPN
Miles Bridges Has Upcoming Court Date
2 years agoCharlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges has a court date scheduled for July 20. Bridges, who was arrested in late June on felony domestic violence charges, is coming off a fantastic season, where he averaged a career-high 20.2 points. The Hornets did tender him an $8 million qualifying offer, so the team does have control. However, his future with the team could be decided by what transpires during his court appearance. Until then, it's unlikely he'll receive interest from clubs throughout the league, so the front office has time to figure things out.Source: Chris Haynes
Joshua Primo Has A Night To Forget On Sunday
2 years agoSan Antonio Spurs guard Joshua Primo had 10 points during the loss to Golden State on Sunday. He struggled shooting the ball by going 2-for-15 from the field and 1-for-5 from behind the arc. He did add five boards, four assists, and a block, but overall, it wasn't his best effort. The 19-year-old played relatively well throughout his rookie campaign in 2021-22. However, Primo needs to step things up and be a consistent producer, especially since he is anticipated to receive plenty of minutes moving ahead due to the team dealing superstar Dejounte Murray to the Hawks.Source: ESPN
Jonathan Kuminga Leads The Way In Win
2 years agoGolden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga finished with a game-high 28 points during the narrow win over the San Antonio Spurs. He also added seven boards, four assists, and a block. Despite his scoring effort, Kuminga had issues finding his shot on Sunday night by collectively going 10-for-22 from the field, 1-for-7 from deep, and a hideous 7-for-18 from the charity stripe. Nonetheless, with Otto Porter Jr. now in Toronto, Kuminga should see more minutes in 2022-23. He'll need some additional development, but the 19-year-old appears well on his way to establishing himself as a solid rotational piece for the Dubs moving ahead. Yet, he likely won't be an everyday producer for fantasy managers.Source: ESPN
James Wiseman Logs 20 Minutes In Return
2 years agoGolden State Warriors center James Wiseman (knee) had 11 points on an efficient 5-for-7 from the field during the Summer League win over San Antonio. He added two rebounds and two blocks, although he also had three turnovers and found himself in foul trouble. Nonetheless, considering the 21-year-old hasn't played in well over a year due to a meniscus tear, it was a solid showing across his 20 minutes of work. It's unknown if Wiseman will return to the floor in Las Vegas. However, he probably won't receive much work if he does, as the Dubs may remain cautious with the 2020 No. 2 overall pick.Source: ESPN
Isaiah Joe Injures Shoulder On Sunday
2 years agoPhiladelphia 76ers guard Isaiah Joe (shoulder) lasted only eight minutes before exiting Sunday's loss to Brooklyn with a right shoulder injury. It was a tough break for Philly, especially since he's looked so good throughout the Summer League. It's unknown if the 23-year-old will be seen again in Vegas. However, Joe has played well enough to earn a more prominent role in the rotation in 2022-23. He's someone to watch and is worth a late-round pick in fantasy drafts heading into October.Source: ESPN
David Duke Jr. Plays Well In Summer League Win
2 years agoBrooklyn Nets forward David Duke Jr. had 21 points in the win over Philadelphia during Summer League play on Sunday. He shot a decent 6-for-11 from the field, although he couldn't sink either of his two attempts from downtown. Yet, Duke made up for it by going 9-for-10 from the charity stripe while adding five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. At some point throughout his career, the 22-year-old may crack a consistent spot in the rotation. Until then, he doesn't have fantasy value in anything outside of dynasty formats, and even that is being generous.Source: ESPN
