Utah Has Considered Sign-And-Trade Deal For Collin Sexton
2 years agoAccording to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Utah Jazz have considered a deal that would land them Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton. For the trade to take place, it would be a sign-and-trade deal that would involve the team trading veteran point guard Mike Conley in exchange for Sexton, who is a restricted free agent. As of now, it sounds like such a deal is a bit of a longshot for multiple reasons. The Jazz likely need to figure out their plan with star guard Donovan Mitchell before making other guard-related moves. Also, Conley wouldn't be the most logical player for the Cavaliers to target. The team could likely find a more suitable return if they were to engage in a sign-and-trade deal involving Sexton.Source: Bleacher Report
Jaden Hardy Scuffles From Field In Summer League Loss
2 years agoDallas Mavericks shooting guard Jaden Hardy was largely held under wraps offensively during Tuesday's Summer League defeat to the Suns, as he shot just 4-for-15 from the floor en route to an 11-point showing. It wasn't all a negative for the 20-year-old, as he knocked down a pair of triples and added six rebounds and two steals to his stat line. Ranked as highly as the No. 2 recruit in the country in the 2021 class, Hardy boasts tremendous upside for Dallas, particularly as a second-round Draft choice. Minutes in droves may be difficult to come by to begin the year, but Hardy could score his way into redraft league relevance at some point in '22-23.Source: ESPN
Caleb Martin Could See Workload As Power Forward In 2022-23
2 years agoMiami Heat forward Caleb Martin may stand just 6-foot-5, but he is a realistic option for the club to hand a sizable minutes load at the power forward spot this year. Armed with a new three-year contract, Martin seems poised to try and fill P.J. Tucker's do-it-all role after the veteran signed with Philadelphia this offseason. "I think I'm a basketball player and I adjust to any position," Martin said via Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. "I'm going to get the job done." Miami boasts Nikola Jovic and Haywood Highsmith as internal options, but Martin offers exciting upside, especially on the heels of averaging new career-bests with 9.2 points and 3.8 boards per game last season.Source: Anthony Chiang
Brandon Boston Jr. Drops 15 Points On Clunky Shooting Night
2 years agoLA Clippers shooting guard Brandon Boston Jr. tied for the team lead with 15 points during Tuesday's Summer League defeat to the Lakers. While the 20-year-old wing showcased his athleticism and offensive aggressiveness, he shot just 3-for-12 overall, having his performance boosted by a 9-for-12 effort from the free-throw stripe, along with the nine rebounds he compiled over 29 minutes. Boston remains an intriguing piece for LA after he was acquired as a second-round Draft selection in 2021; the 6-foot-7 wing was the fourth-highest ranked recruit in the country as recently as '20. After appearing in 51 games off the bench last season for the Clippers -- averaging 6.7 PPG -- Boston's role to open '22-23 is even murkier.Source: ESPN
Mason Jones Logs Double-Double In Summer League Win
2 years agoLos Angeles Lakers shooting guard Mason Jones led the way in Tuesday's Summer League victory over the Clippers with a team-best 15 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. While Jones shot just 4-for-10 from the floor overall, his offensive aggressiveness led to a 6-for-8 showing from the free-throw stripe. In addition to delivering a team-high +19 plus-minus during his time on the floor, Jones also added four assists for an all-around impressive performance. The 23-year-old appeared in just four games off the bench last season for L.A., notching a combined 27 points. An undrafted free agent out of Arkansas, Jones faces an uphill battle to a roster spot with the Lakers, but Tuesday's outing was a step in the right direction.Source: ESPN
Bennedict Mathurin Drops 20 Points In Just 19 Minutes
2 years agoIndiana Pacers shooting guard/small forward Bennedict Mathurin packed the stat sheet during Tuesday's Summer League victory over Detroit, compiling 20 points across just 19 minutes of action. In addition to not committing a turnover, Mathurin added five rebounds, three assists and three steals, all while shooting 5-for-9 overall and 9-for-10 from the free-throw stripe. It was yet another strong summer showing for the sixth overall pick from the 2022 NBA Draft, who has showcased an ability to serve as a go-to offensive option on the wing. Mathurin's defensive acumen and balanced skill set on offense should both serve him well as a multi-category contributor throughout his rookie year.Source: ESPN
Pat Connaughton Agrees To Three-Year Contract Extension
2 years agoMilwaukee Bucks shooting guard/small forward Pat Connaughton is sticking around with the franchise. Connaughton has reportedly agreed to a three-year, $28.5 million contract extension, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, which after having picked up his player option for 2022-23, gives him a four-year deal worth $34 million. The 29-year-old is coming off having averaged a career-high 9.9 PPG last year, knocking down 2.2 triples on a nightly basis. While he did make 19 starts last season, Connaughton has emerged largely as a significant bench cog, a role he is likely to reprise next season if Milwaukee stays healthy.Source: Adrian Wojnarowski
Justin Jackson Shines In Summer League Win
2 years agoBoston Celtics forward Justin Jackson finished with 24 points during the win over the Warriors in Summer League play. The veteran looked good in this one, going 9-for-14 from the field and 5-for-10 from deep. The 2017 first-round pick, who has played for six teams throughout his career, is hoping to earn a consistent spot on a professional roster. Jackson has certainly had flashes of production over the years. However, he's unlikely to be a reliable fantasy contributor, even if he inks a deal with a team.Source: ESPN
James Wiseman Compiles Three Blocks On Tuesday
2 years agoGolden State Warriors center James Wiseman finished with six points on 3-for-9 shooting during the loss to Boston in Las Vegas on Tuesday. While his scoring output was discouraging, he made up for it by adding seven rebounds and three blocks. Wiseman continues to find his rhythm after missing so much time because of a meniscus tear. He needs to calm down a bit to avoid getting into foul trouble, and it would be reassuring for fantasy managers if he receives more minutes in each of the remaining Summer League games. However, the 21-year-old appears to be trending in the right direction.Source: ESPN
Moses Moody Struggles Shooting Against Boston
2 years agoGolden State Warriors guard Moses Moody finished with 21 points during the loss to Boston in Las Vegas on Tuesday evening. He also had four assists, three rebounds, and three steals. However, the 20-year-old had trouble getting his shots to fall by going 6-for-19 from the field and 2-for-9 from deep. The 2021 first-round pick has played well throughout Summer League, but he probably won't see the court often during the regular season. Yet, dynasty managers should keep Moody on the roster, as he could be a few years away from tapping into his full potential.Source: ESPN
Jonathan Kuminga Has Another Strong Showing
2 years agoGolden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga finished Tuesday's Summer League loss to Boston with a game-high 29 points. The 19-year-old added two boards, one steal, and one block. However, he had another subpar shooting performance, going 11-for-22 from the field while sinking two of his seven tries from deep. Nonetheless, with Otto Porter Jr. now in Toronto, Kuminga should receive additional minutes this season. He likely won't see consistent work, although he will probably get more than a handful of starting opportunities in 2022-23.Source: ESPN
D.J. Wilson Scores 10 Points In Summer League
2 years agoToronto Raptors forward D.J. Wilson finished with 10 points during the loss to Chicago on Tuesday night in Las Vegas. He added five boards and two assists, although he also had a game-high six turnovers. Wilson recently signed a multi-year deal after suiting up on numerous 10-day contracts for Toronto in 2021-22. However, despite years of experience, the 2017 first-round pick has a long way to go before earning a routine spot in the rotation moving ahead. Yet, if there are injuries in the Raptors' frontcourt this season, he may make a few appearances in the starting lineup, so there is streaming potential.Source: ESPN
Dalano Banton Scores Game-High 18 Points
2 years agoToronto Raptors guard Dalano Banton finished with a game-high 18 points during the loss to Chicago in Summer League play. The 22-year-old logged 26 minutes, adding five assists, four boards, and two steals to complement his scoring output. However, despite draining three of his five attempts from deep, he struggled shooting overall by going 6-for-15 from the field. Nevertheless, while Banton had a promising performance on Tuesday, he has an uphill climb before he cracks a consistent spot in the rotation come the regular season, making him irrelevant for fantasy purposes.Source: ESPN
Dalen Terry Improves On Tuesday Night
2 years agoChicago Bulls guard Dalen Terry finished with 14 points during the win over Toronto in Las Vegas on Tuesday. He also had five boards and two assists, and more importantly, he only had three turnovers. The No. 18 overall selection of the 2022 NBA Draft has had issues taking care of the ball throughout the Summer League. However, if he continues to improve, there's no reason why he can't get some minutes during the season. Still, the 20-year-old has a way to go before establishing himself as an everyday fantasy contributor.Source: ESPN
Jaylin Williams Gets Four-Year Deal
2 years agoForward Jaylin Williams agreed to a four-year, $8.2 million deal with OKC on Tuesday. The No. 34 overall selection of the 2022 NBA Draft averaged 10.9 points, 9.8 boards, and 1.3 steals last season with the Razorbacks. He likely won't get a routine workload in 2022-23. However, considering the Thunder are in rebuilding mode, he may get a few starts here and there.Source: Shams Charania
