2 years agoThe New York Knicks and Utah Jazz have begun discussing a potential trade that would send star guard Donovan Mitchell to New York, according to Shams Charania. Charania reports that among all the teams interested in Mitchell, the Knicks are the franchise that has the focus of the Jazz at this point. The Knicks have eight future first round picks that would be considered valuable to Utah. Recent reports have suggested that the Jazz are prioritizing draft picks rather than players in the return for Mitchell. We'll see if these talks continue to pick up steam in the coming days. Make sure to stay tuned.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: Shams Charania

2 years agoDenver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone spoke about star guard Jamal Murray (knee) on NBA TV on Wednesday. He stated that Murray wouldn't play in every single game to start the 2022-23 season, and that he'll be playing under 30 minutes per game when he's on the floor. This news isn't particularly surprising, as the team has continued to bring Murray along slowly ever since he tore his ACL in April of last year. He still has a chance to be a huge fantasy difference-maker next year, particularly late in the 2022-23 season, when he'll hopefully have his restrictions lifted.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: Harrison Wind

2 years agoOklahoma City Thunder guard Tre Mann (knee) exited Wednesday's Summer League game against the Sacramento Kings in the fourth quarter. He was taken to the locker room and appeared to be limping, potentially favoring his knee. We should know more about his ailment soon. Mann was extremely active in Wednesday's game before exiting. He logged 27 minutes and racked up 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds while shooting 6-for-11 from the field and 3-for-5 from three-point range. We saw during his rookie year last year that if he can receive sufficient playing time, he'll put up some solid scoring numbers. It remains to be seen how many minutes he'll get this year, but he's a name to keep on your radar heading into draft season this fall.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: Andrew Schlecht

2 years agoNew Orleans Pelicans forward Deividas Sirvydis had a fantastic game in Wednesday's Summer League outing against the Washington Wizards. He came off the bench and scored a game-high 25 points while knocking down six three-pointers and shooting 9-for-17 from the field overall. He also added five rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block. Sirvydis is currently unsigned and is looking to earn a spot on an NBA roster this upcoming season. He was a second round pick in the 2019 NBA draft, but he's played sparingly in the NBA. Last year, he appeared in 14 games for the G-League's Motor City Cruise and averaged 12.9 points and 2.6 three-pointers per game.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: NBA.com

2 years agoLos Angeles Clippers rookie forward/center Moussa Diabate (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Summer League contest against the Denver Nuggets. He is dealing with an ankle injury. Diabate started each of the team's first two Summer League games and was productive on the boards, racking up a total of 15 rebounds across the two games. The 20-year-old was a second round pick in this year's draft after spending one season at the University of Michigan. He'll be a bit of a project for the Clippers but he has the ability to be a solid rim-protector, rebounder and maybe even a three-point threat if he can realize his potential.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: Tomer Azarly

2 years agoToronto Raptors forward D.J. Wilson helped lead the team to an 80-74 victory over the Utah Jazz in Wednesday's Summer League contest. He scored a game-high 22 points while also compiling nine rebounds, three three-pointers, one assist, one block and one steal. He was extremely efficient in the game, shooting 7-for-12 from the field and 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Wilson signed a two-year deal with the Raptors this offseason. The 26-year-old has bounced around the league a bit the past few years as he's struggled to find consistency in the NBA. We'll see if he can carve out a bench role with the Raptors this season.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: NBA.com

2 years agoUtah Jazz guard Jared Butler played a team-high 27 minutes in Wednesday's Summer League game against the Toronto Raptors. He racked up 12 points, six assists, three steals and two rebounds in the game while shooting 5-for-16 from the field and 2-for-8 from three-point range. Butler had a trainwreck of a performance in his previous outing against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. He shot just 3-for-22 in the game while going 0-for-10 from downtown. If the Jazz wind up trading both Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley this summer, Butler could become a trendy fantasy sleeper. The 21-year-old played sparingly as a rookie last year, but has the tools to be a solid source of assists and three-pointers if the minutes are there.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: NBA.com

2 years agoCharlotte Hornets forward Bryce McGowens had a strong offensive game in the team's Summer League contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. He shot 7-for-10 from the field, 5-for-6 from three-point range and 5-for-6 from the free throw line on the way to a team-high 24 points. He also had two rebounds and an assist. McGowens, who was a second round pick in this year's draft, has been launching away from the three-point line so far in Summer League play. He shot 3-for-6 from downtown in his Summer League debut, then struggled in his second game, shooting 1-for-5 from three-point range and 2-for-14 overall. The 6'6" 19-year-old is unlikely to break into the team's rotation as a rookie unless the team suffers multiple key injuries on the wing.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: NBA.com

2 years agoCleveland Cavaliers rookie guard Ochai Agbaji had his best Summer League showing thus far in Wednesday's game against the Charlotte Hornets. He played 29 minutes and scored a team-high 24 points while shooting 7-for-13 from the field, 4-for-8 from three-point range and 6-for-6 from the line. He also added three rebounds, three steals and an assist and he didn't commit a single turnover. Agbaji struggled in his second Summer League game, shooting just 3-for-11 from the field while scoring eight points, so it was nice to see him bounce back in a big way. He has a chance to contribute as a three-point shooting threat on the Cavaliers as a rookie in 2022-23. Keep him on your radar in the late rounds of fantasy drafts.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: NBA.com

2 years agoHouston Rockets guard Josh Christopher (hip) has been ruled out for the remainder of this year's Summer League tournament. He is dealing with right hip soreness. Christopher started each of the team's first three Summer League games and was extremely active in each contest. He average 19.7 points per game while shooting 39.6% from the field. Christopher is going into his second year in the NBA. He played just 18 minutes per game as a rookie and should see similar playing time in his sophomore season.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: Houston Chronicle

2 years agoMemphis Grizzlies rookie guard Jake LaRavia showed some versatility in the team's Summer League game against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. He played 21 minutes and compiled five rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals. This was LaRavia's third Summer League game and he has yet to show an ability to rack up points. He only managed to score two points on Tuesday and he had eight total points across his first two games. The 6'7" 20-year-old was selected 19th overall in this year's draft. He's an intriguing prospect, but he's unlikely to break the team's rotation as a rookie in 2022-23.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: NBA.com

2 years agoAccording to Ian Begley of SNY, sources who are close to the New York Knicks have reported that the team has no interest in trading RJ Barrett. The 22-year-old's name has come up recently as a potential piece in a deal that would land the team star Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell. However, based on Begley's report, it seems unlikely that Barrett would be included in such a deal. The former Duke Blue Devil is coming off of a strong third year in the NBA. Although his field goal percentage dipped from 44.1% in 2020-21 to 40.8% last year, he averaged a career-high 20.0 points per game in 2021-22.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: SNY

2 years agoBrooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving has been the center of trade rumors this summer, but a recent report from the New York Post suggests that he may not be going anywhere. On Tuesday, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reported that a source close to Irving told the Post that Irving has every intention of remaining with the Nets, whether or not Kevin Durant is with the team this coming season. Meanwhile, Durant's trade request has been losing a bit of steam lately, due to the fact that the Nets haven't been able to find a suitable trade partner. As a result of both of these developments, it's looking a bit more likely that we could see both stars back in Brooklyn next year despite the media storm that Durant's trade request caused over the past few weeks.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: NY Post

2 years agoPoint guard Patrick Beverley was traded to the Utah Jazz in this summer's blockbuster deal that sent star center Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, it seems likely that his tenure in Utah won't be long. According to Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer, the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat are amongst the teams who are interested in acquiring the veteran point guard. Beverley would certainly be a natural fit in Miami with his tenacious defense. Conversely, the Lakers would be a more questionable fit as the team attempts to find its direction. As of now, it still remains to be seen where Beverley will play in 2022-23.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: Bleacher Report

2 years agoWord came out recently that the Utah Jazz are open to entertaining offers for star point guard Donovan Mitchell. Reports from the league have suggested that the Jazz are pursuing first round picks rather than players in a return for Mitchell. Due to this fact, the New York Knicks have seemingly emerged as a potential favorite for landing Mitchell. The Knicks currently possess eight first round picks that could be tradable and the team has made it no secret that they are attempting to build a team that can win now. The Knicks have been aggressive so far this offseason, but it remains to be seen whether they'll be able to land a superstar like Mitchell to bolster their squad even more.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: Brian Windhorst
