Paul Goldschmidt, Paul DeJong, Yadier Molina Resting

5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, shortstop Paul DeJong and catcher Yadier Molina are all getting breathers on Thursday. Matt Carpenter is at first base and is hitting third, Yairo Munoz is at the 6 and is batting eighth and Matt Wieters is doing the catching and batting seventh against Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg. Jedd Gyorko also gets the start at third base and is batting second. Gyorko has only two hits in 20 at-bats to begin the year and should be faded against a strong starter despite the good lineup spot. He is .417 with a homer and two RBI in 12 career at-bats against Stras, though. Carp is slumping to begin the season and is hitting .154 in 13 career at-bats against the right-hander.
