Oswaldo Cabrera Hitting Sixth In MLB Debut
2 years agoThe New York Yankees called up infield prospect Oswaldo Cabrera from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, and he'll make his major league debut against Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Corey Kluber. Cabrera is starting at third base and is hitting sixth in the batting order. The 23-year-old is the team's No. 14 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and the switch-hitter was batting .262/.340/.492 with an .832 OPS, eight home runs, 29 RBI, 29 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 47 games at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to earn the call-up. He'll likely be in a utility role once DJ LeMahieu (toe) returns to the lineup, but the good news is that he can play pretty much everywhere on the infield and he's also seen time in the corner outfield spots in the minors.
