Darius Slayton Has Precarious Hold On Roster Spot
2 years agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton didn't play in the second preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday after being limited all week with an undisclosed soft-tissue injury that he suffered in the preseason opener. The fourth-year wideout has a precarious hold on a roster spot at this time, and the Giants need to get him on the field for the preseason finale if they want to showcase him for a trade. The 25-year-old was working with the third-team offense in training camp practice a few weeks ago and is buried on the team's depth chart at the position. Slayton wasn't able to take advantage of all of the receiver injuries in 2021 and finished with a career-low 26 catches for 339 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games (five starts).
