Damien Harris, Rhamondre Stevenson Both Three-Down Backs?
2 years agoNew England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said that running backs Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson are "looking at all three downs" and that the team "has to plan accordingly for that." It's a notable change from the team's second preseason game, and it's a contrast to the "third-down backs" the Patriots have traditionally employed. Pass-catching specialist James White recently retired, and rookie Pierre Strong Jr. has come along slowly this summer. Ty Montgomery can catch passes and figures to be the No. 3 RB entering the season, but it's clear that Harris and Stevenson will do the heavy lifting. Harris and Stevenson are both in play as RB3/flex options for fantasy managers, but this could become a frustrating committee approach in which the Patriots go with the hot hand on a weekly basis.
