Cam Akers Not A Lock For RB1 Duties To Open The Season
2 years agoESPN's Sarah Barshop doesn't think it's a lock that Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers will start the regular season as the team's true RB1. Both head coach Sean McVay and offensive coordinator Liam Coen said the Rams plan to use both Akers and Darrell Henderson Jr. regularly. Akers could end the season as the team's No. 1 back, but even before both Akers and Henderson dealt with soft-tissue injuries in training camp, the team was rotating them during practices. Behind the two, LA has rookie Kyren Williams and Jake Funk. Akers and Henderson should be ready for Week 1, but this news makes Akers a little less attractive as an RB2 play out of the gates.
