Giancarlo Stanton Officially Activated From Injured List
2 years agoThe New York Yankees officially activated outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (Achilles) from the 10-day injured list on Thursday and placed left-hander Nestor Cortes (groin) on the 15-day injured list with a left groin strain in a corresponding move. The Yankees also moved outfielder Harrison Bader (foot) to the 60-day IL and signed right-hander Greg Weissert to a major league contract and selected him from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Stanton went hitless in two minor league rehab games for Double-A Somerset, but he's fully healthy and ready to rejoin New York's lineup, likely as the designated hitter at first. Although the 32-year-old slugger hasn't hit for average in 2022, he remains an elite source of power in a strong Yankees lineup.
