Nestor Cortes Could Return Soon
2 years agoThe New York Yankees placed left-hander Nestor Cortes (groin) on the 15-day injured list on Aug. 25 with a Grade 2 left groin strain. However, the Yankees are optimistic that Cortes will make a speedy recovery, and he's already started running and is playing catch. Skipper Aaron Boone said he hopes that Cortes can throw off a mound at some point during the current three-city road trip. It remains to be seen if the Yankees will send the 27-year-old southpaw on a minor league rehab assignment, but either way, fantasy managers should have him back sooner than later. The first-time All-Star has been great for the Yankees this year, going 9-4 with a 2.68 ERA (3.42 FIP), 0.96 WHIP, 133 strikeouts and 30 walks in 131 innings over 23 starts. Keep him stashed.
