FanDuel DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers & Advice for 5/16/15

Daily fantasy baseball leagues (DFS) are becoming the thing to do, and here at RotoBaller we are excited to help our users build their bankrolls. I’ll be covering FanDuel lineup picks, sleepers and general advice every Saturday and Sunday. I’ll also be putting my money where my mouth is by entering my final lineup (at the bottom of the article) into one of FanDuel’s many daily fantasy contests, so that RotoBaller users can compete against me.

My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try to choose players who will outperform their expectations. These players can be high-cost players, or they can be sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value. Additionally, since the weekends generally have many afternoon and night games, I’ll make an effort to distribute my picks to cover all the timeslots going forward so that if you are playing an afternoon/night only league this article will still be useful. So, without further ado, my picks for Saturday, May 16th.

Editor’s Note: RotoBaller’s Premium DFS Lineup Picks & Tools help you get an edge for your FanDuel lineups with exclusive access to DFS tools and expert lineup picks. Also our DFS batters vs. pitchers tool helps you analyze today’s matchups and make optimal lineup decisions.

Last Saturday’s Review

Last Saturday we played the Late $15K Sac Fly. Here is how we did:

Entry: $1

Winnings: $1.75

Sundays For the Season: +$8.08

Pick Highlights: Jon Niese did exactly what was needed in getting the win over the lowly Phillies and racking up 17 points in the process. Our mid-priced outfielders played well across the board with Ryan Braun leading the way at 5.75 points.

Relationship Status: “Saving our pennies”

DFS Starting Pitchers To Consider for FanDuel

Felix Hernandez (SP, SEA) - $11,500

I know how hard it is to get pitchers this expensive in your lineup, but he is King Felix.

Max Scherzer (SP, WAS) - $11,000

He goes up  against San Diego in San Diego today. It's a pitcher's paradise and while the Padres lineup is much improved Scherzer will mow them down today.

Danny Salazar (SP, CLE) - $8,700

Incredible improvements in his control are turning Salazar into an ace. He's a strikeout wizard and while Texas isn't the best place to pitch, that lineup is nothing to write home about.

DFS Infielders To Consider for FanDuel

Buster Posey (C, SF) - $3,700

Posey crushes today's starter Mike Leake to the tune of a .385 average with a home run in 13 career at-bats.

Dustin Pedroia (2B, BOS) – $2,900

As I say every week, I refuse to take Pedroia off this list and out of my lineup. At $2,900, Pedroia is less or equally expensive as 17 other second basemen. Of those 17, only four are outscoring Pedroia on average. That’s enough for me to keep taking him as a value play.

DFS Outfielders To Consider for FanDuel

Drew Stubbs(OF, COL) - $2,700

I'd be cautious here because it's tough to know when Stubbs is going to play and he does have a seemingly difficult matchup with Zack Greinke, but Stubbs has owned Greinke for their careers hitting .423 in 26 at-bats.

Matt Holliday (OF, STL) – $3,500

Another player that I refuse to take off this list. He’s on here weekly until he gets into the $3,800 – $4,000 range.

Jay Bruce (OF, CIN) - $2,400

I love getting guys in my lineup who are capable of hitting two home runs in a game. Bruce is certainly capable of that and at this low price you just don't find guys this talented. Bruce is my best bet to go deep today off Ryan Vogelsong who has served up a home run and a .353 average to Bruce over their careers.

FanDuel Sleeper Value of the Day

J.J. Hardy (SS, BAL) - $2,400

Hardy is back from injury and is therefore going to be undervalued for the next week or so minimum. Get him in all your lineups as he provides great power for the SS spot and hits in the middle of a good Orioles lineup.

My DFS Lineup on FanDuel

Today I’ll be playing in $15K Sat MLB Sac Fly . Remember to check your lineups throughout the day. You never want to get a goose egg for a guy that didn’t play.
