ANALYSIS: After years of tearing through the Cubs’ farm system, Jorge Soler seems to be getting worse as his time in the Majors drags on. Expectations were high for the Cuban outfielder after posting a .340/.432/.700 line between Double-A and Triple-A in 2014. Among the wave of prospects that found their way to the Cubs’ big league roster, Soler was the most disappointing in 2015, posting a .262/.324/.399 line with just ten long balls. This season he's been even worse, shown by his abysmal .207/.309/.371 line. This is all bad news. The good news is that Soler has been hot lately, going 9-for-30 in his last 10 games with six walks and three homers. Picking up Soler is a gamble, as he is just as likely to end up back in Triple-A as he is to become a viable fantasy option. However, any hot streak could be the beginning of big things for the 24 year-old. For now, he is certainly worth keeping an eye on. Most owners are well aware of his potential by now.
