4 years agoBaltimore Orioles second/third baseman Rio Ruiz was designated for assignment on Tuesday, per MLB.com's Joe Trezza. The 26-year-old had shifted from third base to second after the O's signed Maikel Franco and struggled at the plate this season with a .167/.250/.300 slash line. The O's now have seven days to trade or release Ruiz, and he can remain in the organization if he clears waivers.
