Daily Divide: Week Ten DFS Picks - Darren McFadden, Greg Olsen, Randall Cobb Plus Others

Daily Divide: Week Ten

Nathan and Matt each offer Week 10 cash game picks for every position, then the other insults or compliments those picks, as warranted. They hope their arguments debates provide enough information to make help people make their own decisions. Nathan tends to make far better picks, and Matt’s thoughts should be somewhat ignored.

Matt: Wow.

You can follow the magnificent Nathan Powell on twitter: @npowellff -- and the alright Matt Rittle on twitter: @ffrittle. Matt: Pride cometh before the fall Nathan.

Nathan’s DFS Picks for Week Ten

QB: Kirk Cousins vs NO
Whenever you are playing a quarterback near the minimum price on DFS sites, there is some risk that comes along with that. However, I think Cousins is worth that risk against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. This game projects as a shootout with an over/under of 50 with an implied total of 24.5 for Washinton.

Stacking: Jordan Reed is the only real stacking option here, and I’m a big fan of the Cousins/Reed stack this weekend. Reed continues to provide a nice floor when he is on the field and if Cousins lives up to price, it will likely mean Reed also had a nice game.

Matt: The matchup is amazing, and Cousins has flashed at times...but there may be slightly more risk associated with this one than I prefer with my cash game QBs. More than that, Blake Bortles is only four hundred more on DraftKings. On Draftday, Peyton Manning is less. It’s a reasonable flier on paper, but unsure about it in reality.

RB: DeMarco Murray vs MIA:
Demarco Murray has been playing well lately, scoring his way into being a top 10 running back in PPR with 21 or more PPR points in three of his last four games. On some sites, however, he is priced closer to the mid tier of backs than the top tier. The over/under in this game has risen from 46.5 early in the week to a projected shootout at 50 with an implied team total of 28 for the Eagles. With a total that high, Murray should have plenty of opportunities to get into the end zone. Additionally, the Dolphins have been a good matchup for running backs this season, allowing the 4th most fantasy points to the position to date.

Matt: I think it's good to highlight all of that, as it's flown under the radar somewhat. Hard not to love Murray this weekend.
WR: Allen Robinson at BAL:
Teammate Allen Hurns was in a walking boot earlier this week and Allen Robinson has a matchup against a Ravens secondary that plays like they're in a walking boot. Robinson will see plenty of targets this week and the tenth most targeted receiver in the NFL will be getting those targets against a Ravens defense that surrendered the third most fantasy points to wide receivers this season. This is another matchup with a high total of 47.5, neither of these defenses are good. Robinson offers us the best offensive weapon in a game with plenty of scoring to go around, and for a non-prohibitive price. I’m playing him as much as possible this weekend. If Allen Hurns suits up and plays his normal amount of snaps, this a little bit less attractive, but still a solid play.

Stacking: I’m good with Blake Bortles, but for the most part where I’m going cheap at quarterback, I’m going super cheap with Cousins.

Matt: Fantastic writeup, and if Hurns is all out, I’m all in. (Not as good as your walking boot thing, but I tried).

TE: Greg Olsen at TEN:

To the surprise of no one, Greg Olsen has been one of the most consistent tight ends in the NFL this season. Olsen has scored at least 9 PPR points in 6 of his last 7 games and this week he faces a Tennessee Titans defense that has allowed the 7th most fantasy points to tight ends so far. Olsen provides the floor and ceiling that your cash games need this week.

Stacking Cam is always in play, especially in a Cam/Olsen stack, but I think that is more of a GPP play this weekend.

Matt: I’ll be paying down or up form Olsen’s price, but mostly just for lineup texture reasons. He is a great option, if a mid-priced tight end makes sense in your lineups. (Funny story...In my research notes this week I literally wrote: “Olsen gonna be Olsen”).

Nathan: You do research for this article? I hadn’t noticed.

Matt’s DFS Picks for Week Ten

QB: Blake Bortles at BAL:
Blake Bortles has flown a bit under the radar as of yet, a little surprising given that he’s averaging QB9 numbers over the last two months. Over that span he hasn’t finished lower than QB16, has two finishes as a low-end QB1, and three as a top six QB. This weekend he faces off against the 28th ranked pass defense according to FootballOutsider’s DVOA. In the middle of a solid season in a plus matchup, and mysteriously underpriced on some sites, Bortles makes for an terrific cash game play this weekend.

Stacking In playing Bortles, we’d rather Allen Hurns is on the field, but Allen Robinson makes for a nice stacking option either way.

Nathan:Solid play, the Ravens have been a nice matchup for quarterbacks all season long, this week is no exception with a nice and cheap play with Bortles.

Matt: Dare I say better than Cousins...

RB: Darren McFadden at TBB:
Since the Cowboy’s bye in Week 7, Darren McFadden has handled 80% of snapshare and 86% of the carries. While he faces the tenth ranked DVOA rushing defense this weekend in Tampa Bay, McFadden has shown both a high floor and ceiling in tough fantasy matchups, finishing as RB5, RB8, and RB18 in the last three weeks, all against top ten DVOA rush defenses. Where his price reflects his recent usage and production, McFadden makes a solid if avoidable play. He makes a fantastic play, though, wherever his price continues to lag behind.

Nathan: As you’ve said, the Buccaneers run defense has actually been pretty good, but a porous secondary has let the team down all season long. My worry with this play is that Matt Cassel slings it around for a bit taking points away from the run game, but it is Matt Cassel so that probably isn’t a real worry.

Matt: McFadden’s passing game involvement removes most of that concern for me.

WR: Randall Cobb vs DET:
Randall Cobb totalled 16-132-0 in four consecutive weeks, prior to putting up 4-99-1 against a solid Carolina secondary last week. These struggles though, serve to discount his price relative to other top WRs, which is a positive for Cobb in DFS this weekend. Another positive is the matchup. Detroit’s secondary ranks 30th in DVOA, recently benching slot CB Josh Wilson in favor of sixth round rookie Quandre Diggs, as Evan Silva noted in his weekly matchup column. Cobb runs from the the slot over 88% of the time, via PFF, so he figures to get the softest matchup (against the rookie CB Diggs) in an already soft secondary. Sometimes in DFS we recommend riding the hot hand. In Cobb this weekend, we instead have the chance to hope for better days.

Stacking:Aaron Rodgers makes a fantastic play this weekend, who should shred the Detroit secondary.

Nathan: Where I am paying up at quarterback, it is Aaron Rodgers, I like both Rodgers and Cobb a lot this weekend. My only thing is I think Cobb is more of a GPP play.

Matt: Your thing is wrong though.
TE: Jordan Reed vs NOS:
After straying from my normative plan at TE last week, I’m returning to form this week. My plan is simple, and has been successful when I’ve stuck to it: Jordan Reed, Delanie Walker, or Gronk. Gronk is a great option, as always, but both Reed and Walker make more than fine options this weekend if you don’t want to pay up. I’m favoring Reed over Walker slightly as New Orleans has been quite generous to opposing tight ends.

Stacking: Nathan thinks you can play Cousins in cash games, as suggested above. I’m less sure, but he definitely makes a solid GPP stacking option.

Nathan: All over Jordan Reed this weekend. And pretty much every weekend.

Matt: Just like I was all over your Mom last night.

Nathan: You’re becoming predictable.

Matt: ……...Your Mom is predictable.

Watch The Pricing, But We Also Like

Nathan likes: Aaron Rodgers, DeAngelo Williams, Mark Ingram, Alshon Jeffery, Demaryius Thomas, Michael Crabtree, Jordan Reed

Matt likes: Aaron Rodgers, DeAngelo Williams, Doug Martin, Mark Ingram, Stefon Diggs, Demaryius Thomas, Delanie Walker, Gronk
