Bengals Draft Ja’Marr Chase
4 years agoWith the No. 5 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals have selected LSU wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, a college teammate of quarterback Joe Burrow. It was a bit surprising to see the Bengals not take an offensive lineman to help them protect their second-year quarterback, especially after a knee injury ended his rookie season early. But Chase is a monster, and while he opted out of the 2020 season, his 2019 campaign saw him catch 84 passes for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns. There are good receivers on this Cincy team like Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd, but Chase can be the real field-stretching No. 1 option for this team. If their LSU connection is as strong in the NFL as it was in college, Chase can be a fantasy WR1 by 2022. For now, he's a risky re-draft pick because rookie receivers have a tough initial adjustment period.
