Cubs Acquire Franmil Reyes From Guardians
2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs acquired outfielder Franmil Reyes, who was designated for assignment by the Cleveland Guardians last week, from the Guardians on Monday, according to multiple sources. Reyes is owed around $1.5 million the rest of this season and is arbitration-eligible this winter. He's been described as a great clubhouse guy and prior to the 2022 season had put up big power numbers. However, the 27-year-old Dominican slugger has fallen off a cliff this year, hitting just .213/.254/.350 with nine home runs, 28 RBI, 24 runs scored, two stolen bases and 104 strikeouts in 280 plate appearances over 70 games. The rebuilding Cubs will take a flier on him and hope he can work out his issues at the plate.
