Isaiah Joe Has Four Steals On Friday
2 years agoPhiladelphia 76ers guard Isaiah Joe finished with 14 points during the Summer League blowout over Denver. He also had five rebounds and three assists while compiling four steals. Joe has played well throughout his time in Vegas, and it comes after the 23-year-old ended the 2021-22 campaign by averaging an underwhelming 3.6 points. Although he may not see consistent playing time for the professional club this season, Doc Rivers could give him more minutes as he certainly has plenty of untapped potential. As a result, he's someone fantasy managers should watch, especially if he makes appearances in the starting lineup or carves out a consistent role off the bench.Source: ESPN
Grant Riller Drops Game-High 18 Points On Friday
2 years agoPhiladelphia 76ers guard Grant Riller finished with a game-high 18 points during the win over Denver on Friday in Las Vegas. The 25-year-old needed only 18 minutes off the bench to lead the way in the scoring column. He looked good, too, going 7-for-13 from the field and 2-for-4 from deep. More importantly, Riller appears to have no lingering effects from a meniscus tear suffered in October. While he still has a way to go before earning consistent minutes at the professional level, the G-League may remain in his future.Source: ESPN
Donovan Mitchell Talks To Be An "Extended Process"
2 years agoUtah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell has been in the headlines after it was reported the franchise is now willing to listen to trade offers. While the Knicks reportedly balked at Utah's latest proposal, which included numerous first-round draft picks, there are still ongoing talks between both sides. However, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski believes Utah has plenty of time on its side to find the best suitor, so negotiations may be an "extended process." As a result, there's a chance Mitchell begins the year in a Jazz uniform, although anything can happen heading into the regular season. If he does end up in the Big Apple or anywhere else, for that matter, he'll undoubtedly remain a coveted option for fantasy managers.Source: Adrian Wojnarowski
Spurs Retaining Keldon Johnson With New Deal
2 years agoSan Antonio Spurs forward Keldon Johnson agreed to a four-year, $80 million contract extension. The 22-year-old had a breakout season in 2021-22, finishing with averages of 17.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 38.5% from deep. With Dejounte Murray now in Atlanta, Johnson has an excellent chance to become the team's top producer moving ahead. He should draw plenty of attention from fantasy managers heading into October.Source: Shams Charania
Ousmane Dieng Suffers Injury In Summer League
2 years agoOklahoma City Thunder forward Ousmane Dieng (wrist) will miss the rest of Summer League after suffering a chip fracture in his right wrist. The No. 11 overall selection had played well during his time in Las Vegas and was a highly touted international prospect heading toward the 2022 NBA Draft. Fortunately, he is expected to be good to go for the start of training camp. While Dieng probably won't be a routine fantasy producer, he may make some appearances in the starting lineup, giving him potential as a streaming option this season.Source: Cody Taylor
Xavier Sneed Won't Play On Friday
2 years agoUtah Jazz guard Xavier Sneed (wrist) won't suit up for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Summer League is over in two days, so the Jazz are going to be cautious here. Sneed has been fairly quiet through three games in the Summer League. This rotation is going to be a mess heading into the season. Regardless, it's unlikely that Sneed makes an impact in the rotation next season.Source: Utah Jazz
Moussa Diabate Won't Play Friday
2 years agoLos Angeles Clippers forward Moussa Diabate (ankle) will sit out Friday's game against the Utah Jazz. The 20-year-old is dealing with a right ankle sprain that he suffered during Wednesday's contest. The Clippers are going to play it safe with their rookie forward. Diabate is a bit of a project, but does have some nice upside. It's unlikely he'll get consistent playing time in the rotation. Diabate shouldn't be on the fantasy radar heading into the season.Source: Andrew Greif
KZ Okpala Signs With Kings
2 years agoThe Sacramento Kings have agreed to a two-year deal with forward KZ Okpala. He played with new head coach Mike Brown on the Nigerian national team. Brown might be able to get some value out of Okpala, but fantasy managers can stay away. He has career averages of 2.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. Okpala spent his first three seasons with the Miami Heat, but he only averaged 11.4 minutes through 63 games in Miami. Fantasy managers can ignore this move.Source: Chris Haynes
Miles McBride Puts Up 23 Points On Thursday
2 years agoNew York Knicks point guard Miles McBride had a strong Summer League game in the team's 102-89 win over the Orlando Magic on Thursday. He scored a team-high 23 points while adding five rebounds, five assists and three steals. He was efficient in the game, shooting 9-for-13 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free throw line. McBride has had a nice Summer League overall, averaging 16.8 points, 5.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game while committing just 2.3 turnovers per game. It's unlikely he'll break the team's rotation this year when the Knicks are healthy, but if he winds up being traded to a team with a less crowded backcourt, he could wind up being a fantasy contributor.Source: NBA.com
Austin Rivers Joins T-Wolves On One-Year Deal
2 years agoThe Minnesota Timberwolves have signed veteran guard Austin Rivers to a one-year deal. The 29-year-old spent the last year and a half with the Denver Nuggets. He played about 22 minutes per game last year while averaging 6.0 points, 1.3 assists and 1.2 three-pointers per contest. He figures to be one of the first guards off the bench for the T-Wolves next year, backing up starting guards D'Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards.Source: ESPN
Josh Minott Posts His Second Double-Double On Thursday
2 years agoMinnesota Timberwolves forward Josh Minott came up with his second double-double in Summer League play on Thursday. Facing the Brooklyn Nets, he racked up 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds -- including seven offensive boards. He also added three three-pointers, two assists, two steals and a block. On the negative side, he shot just 5-for-17 from the field. Minott has had an extremely inconsistent Summer League. He started things off strong with a 22 and 10 outing, but he's struggled with his shot ever since and he's committed a whopping 21 personal fouls over his four games. The 19-year-old will likely be a project for the T-Wolves, but he certainly has an array of intriguing skills to build around.Source: NBA.com
Day'Ron Sharpe Puts Up 20 And 10 On Thursday
2 years agoBrooklyn Nets center Day'Ron Sharpe had his best Summer League outing thus far in Thursday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He racked up 20 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks, three assists and one steal in the contest. He was extremely efficient from the field, shooting 8-for-10 overall while also knocking down a three-pointer. The 20-year-old had some solid games as a rookie last year when the team was riddled with injuries. It's unclear at this point if he'll be able to carve out much playing time in 2022-23, but if the team winds up trading away Kevin Durant and tearing apart its roster, Sharpe could benefit.Source: NBA.com
Cam Thomas Drops 26 Points On Thursday
2 years agoBrooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas continued to pour in the points during Thursday's Summer League contest against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He scored 26 points in the game while shooting 7-for-16 from the field, 4-for-8 from three-point range and 8-for-8 from the free throw line. He also added three assists and a rebound. Thomas looks destined to be included on the All-Summer League team this year as he's averaged 28 points per game over four outings. His fantasy relevance for the 2022-23 season greatly depends on whether the team winds up moving Kevin Durant and/or Kyrie Irving. If both players are dealt, Thomas could be a phenomenal late round target for three-pointers.Source: NBA.com
Keon Johnson Scores Game-High 25 Points
2 years agoPortland Trail Blazers guard Keon Johnson continued his strong Summer League play during Thursday's 85-77 win over the Houston Rockets. He shot 8-for-13 from the field, 4-for-8 from three-point range and 5-for-6 from the line in the game. He scored a game-high 25 points while also adding four rebounds and an assist. Johnson has averaged 17.3 points per game over four Summer League contests. The 20-year-old found some playing time down the stretch as a rookie last year and showed some promising flashes. He's probably not someone worthy of fantasy consideration if the Blazers enter the year fully healthy, but at the very least he's someone worth keeping an eye on.Source: NBA.com
Jabari Smith Jr. Goes For 19 And 10 On Thursday
2 years agoHouston Rockets rookie forward Jabari Smith Jr. had a strong performance in Thursday's Summer League contest against the Portland Trail Blazers. He played 28 minutes and racked up 19 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and a block while shooting 7-for-13 from the field and 5-for-7 from the free throw line. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to connect on any of his five three-point attempts in the game. Smith has mostly looked good in Summer League play, averaging 15 points and 8.8 rebounds per game across his four games. He shot just 5-for-19 from the field in his second game, but settled down after that. He shot 6-for-12 in his third game and then turned in an efficient outing on Thursday.Source: NBA.com
