Tyler Glasnow To Face Hitters Aug. 20
2 years agoTampa Bay Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow (ankle, elbow), who is working his way back from Tommy John surgery in August of last year, had arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies from his right ankle on March 18. He's been throwing bullpen sessions of 25 to 30 pitches and felt good after throwing a bullpen on Saturday. The 28-year-old is scheduled to begin facing live hitters on Aug. 20, which means it's possible he'll pitch later this season. Still, even if Glasnow makes a return in September, the Rays will absolutely be extremely cautious with their ace, meaning that he's unlikely to have much fantasy appeal to close out the 2022 season. But this is all great news for his 2023 projections.
