2 years agoPittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky completed 21 of his 38 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown while adding nine rushing yards on three carries in a 23-20 overtime win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. In his first game as Pittsburgh's starting quarterback, Trubisky connected with Najee Harris for a one-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter. The veteran signal-caller took care of the ball in the game but he didn't bring much else to the offense, averaging just 5.1 yards per pass attempt in the win. He will be a QB3 against the New England Patriots in Week 2.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

2 years agoNew England Patriots kicker Nick Folk went 1-for-1 in extra-point attempts in Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Miami Dolphins. He did not attempt a field goal in Week 1. New England's offense struggled to move the ball on Sunday, limiting the veteran's opportunities to score points. The 37-year-old converted 36 of his 39 field-goal attempts and 42 of his 47 extra-point attempts in 2021. New England's offense struggled in the preseason and continued through Week 1. Folk is one of the most reliable kickers on a bad offense at the moment, making him a streamer in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.--Brad Camara - RotoBallerSource: Pro Football Focus

2 years agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Sammy Watkins caught all three of his targets for 18 yards during Sunday's 23-7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Watkins started as the No. 1 wide receiver with Allen Lazard (ankle) out but did little with the opportunity. The Green Bay passing attack struggled throughout the contest, with Watkins leading all the wide receivers with three receptions. When Lazard is back, Watkins should have an easier time getting open, but he is tough to trust for fantasy until we see him produce better numbers. Watkins will remain a risky low-end flex next week against the Chicago Bears.--Ryan Larrison - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

2 years agoCincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow wasn't quite himself during the Week 1 overtime loss to Pittsburgh. The signal-caller managed to throw for 338 yards and two touchdowns. However, he uncharacteristically threw four interceptions and fumbled twice, with one resulting in a turnover. Burrow downplayed questions surrounding his health after undergoing an appendectomy in July, indicating he felt "great." With that said, fantasy managers should give him a free pass for the uninspiring performance. Yet, if Burrow posts a similar showing against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, managers may want to consider other options until he proves he's 100%.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoThe Cleveland Browns defense played well in a 26-24 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. Cleveland picked up four sacks while also forcing one turnover in the winning effort. The Browns got two sacks from star edge rusher Myles Garret while Jadeveon Clowney, John Johnson, Tommy Togiai, and Ronnie Harrison Jr. all had one-half of a sack each. Cleveland's defense will be a strong fantasy play at home against the New York Jets in Week 2.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

2 years agoKansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered an apparent wrist injury after falling on it during the team's Week 1 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Andy Reid said that tests would be done, but Mahomes himself said that the injury occurred after his first of five touchdown passes, so it didn't seem to hold him back in the slightest. He also added that the wrist is sore but that "everything looked good" on initial X-rays. On a short week before facing the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night, the Chiefs could take extra precautions with Mahomes in practice, but all signs point to the former MVP suiting up for Week 2.--Jorden Hill - RotoBallerSource: Nate Taylor

2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel carried the ball eight times for 52 yards and a touchdown in the Niners' 19-10 loss to the Chicago Bears. He added two catches for 14 yards on eight targets. The 26-year-old had to take on a greater role in the backfield after starting RB Elijah Mitchell left the game near halftime with a knee injury. While the inexperience of Trey Lance at quarterback might be hurting Samuel's potential as a receiver, Samuel's skill running the ball will give him opportunities as a wide back, especially while Mitchell misses time. The 49ers' next game against Seattle seems like another chance for Samuel to put up points on the ground and in the air.--Mitchell Blatt - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoCleveland Browns kicker Cade York made all four of his field goals in a 26-24 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. The rookie turned in a big afternoon in his NFL debut, hitting a 58-yard field goal with :08 seconds left in the game to win the game for the Browns. He also tacked on field goals from 26, 34, and 36 yards in the win. York has a big leg and is suddenly an interesting player to monitor in fantasy leagues moving forward. He will face the New York Jets in Week 2.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

2 years agoGreen Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones carried the ball five times for 49 yards Sunday, adding three receptions on five targets for 27 yards, in the 23-7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers struggled to generate offense all game long, and with AJ Dillon leading the backfield in carries, Jones had a disappointing performance in a plus matchup. The limited touches were concerning, but this will not be the norm for the sixth-year back. While he will likely have fewer carries than Dillon most weeks, his involvement in the passing game will surely grow. When Allen Lazard (ankle) is back and quarterback Aaron Rodgers' chemistry with the new receivers grows, Jones will be a more potent producer as a receiver. He has a get-right matchup next week against the 1-0 Chicago Bears.--Ryan Larrison - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

2 years agoCleveland Browns tight end David Njoku caught his lone target for a seven-yard gain in a 26-24 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. The one-catch game comes as a disappointment as Njoku was a popular sleeper pick at tight end in fantasy during the preseason. Instead, he was outproduced by backup tight end Harrison Bryant, who caught two passes for 18 yards. The Cleveland offense was content to lean on the running game in Week 1 instead of putting too much on Jacoby Brissett's plate. That could be an issue for Njoku going forward as it will limit the explosive tight end's ceiling. Treat the veteran tight end as a mid-range TE2 heading into a Week 2 matchup against the New York Jets.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

2 years agoNew England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry caught two of three targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots ran a lot of two tight end sets, with Henry logging 43 snaps while teammate Jonnu Smith logged 39. Despite having fewer snaps, Smith had one more target than Henry in Week 1. The Patriots struggled to move the ball on Sunday and could only muster seven points. Henry is Mac Jones' top option in the red zone after catching nine touchdowns in 2021. The 27-year-old is a touchdown-dependent tight end option against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.--Brad Camara - RotoBallerSource: Pro Football Focus

2 years agoLas Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs rushed for 57 yards on 10 carries while adding one reception for 16 yards in a Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Jacobs ran well in this one averaging 5.7 yards per carry. Fantasy managers will want more than 11 opportunities going forward, but this efficiency is encouraging to see. The Raiders' offense struggled with sacks and turnovers in this game, so it was tough to establish a rhythm on the ground. The bright side for Jacobs is only one other running back saw a touch in this one, as Brandon Bolden saw just three carries. Jacobs should continue to lead the team in rushing in what looks to be a bounce-back opportunity against the Cardinals in Week 2.--Al Calo - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

2 years agoCleveland Browns wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones caught six of his 11 targets for 60 yards in a 26-24 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. Peoples-Jones turned in a big game in the season opener, leading the Browns in catches, targets, and yardage in the win. The third-year wideout really came up big on Cleveland's final drive of the game, coming down with a 13-yard grab on second-and-12. Peoples-Jones is likely to finish behind Amari Cooper in receiving most weeks but he should have some value as a flex option nonetheless. He will face the New York Jets at home in Week 2.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

2 years agoArizona Cardinals kicker Matt Prater didn't attempt a field goal in Sunday's blowout loss. He made his only extra-point attempt as the Cardinals' offense went for a couple of two-point conversions while they were down big against the high-powered Kansas City Chiefs. Prater disappointed fantasy managers in this one, but to no fault of his own. He can be counted on as a starting option moving forward despite the slow start.--Tommy Adamopoulos - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoCleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper caught three of his six targets for 17 yards in a 26-24 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. It was a quiet afternoon for the high-profile offseason acquisition, who had just two catches for eight yards up until Cleveland's final drive of the game. Cooper will have bigger games moving forward, although it is apparent that the Browns are content to let their elite running game lead the way, which will limit the wideout's ceiling in fantasy. Treat Cooper as a WR3 heading into a Week 2 matchup against the New York Jets.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

2 years agoChicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert racked up nine carries for 45 yards with one rushing touchdown in the Bears come-from-behind win over the 49ers. The playing conditions were not ideal as rain pounded the field but it did not affect the second-year running back. When Herbert was given touches, he looked fast and elusive while starter David Montgomery struggled mightily. Herbert's production earned him a touch in the red zone and the shifty runner made a nice cut to find the end zone for his first score of the season. Herbert is not ready to start in standard formats but could be in line for 10-plus touches next week against the Packers in Week 2.--Joey C - RotoBallerSource: Chicago Bears

2 years agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justin Watson exited the team's Week 1 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals with a chest injury. Watson saw one target before being carted off late in the game. The severity of the injury is currently unknown, but the Chiefs have a short week before facing off against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night. Watson impressed in the preseason but isn't expected to make a fantasy impact in a Chiefs offense loaded with receiving options. Still, his availability will be worth monitoring as we could see more opportunities for Skyy Moore if Watson misses Week 2.--Jorden Hill - RotoBallerSource: Nate Taylor

2 years agoThe Arizona Cardinals defense gave up 488 total yards and 44 points to Patrick Mahomes and company in a Week 1 blowout loss. They weren't able to record a single sack and forced just one turnover on a JuJu Smith-Schuster fumble. Their defensive unit doesn't look reliable moving forward as they have another matchup with a good offense in Week 2, as they travel to Las Vegas to take on Derek Carr, Davante Adams, and company. They can be left on the waiver wire in conventional-sized leagues for now.--Tommy Adamopoulos - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoChicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet failed to catch a pass in the team's 19-10 win over the 49ers in Week 1. All the preseason hype surrounding Kmet came crashing down in this rain-soaked matchup as the second-year tight end saw only one target in the game. It is hard to measure the Bears offensive pecking order after this game and Kmet will look to bounce back next week against the Packers on Sunday Night Football.--Joey C - RotoBallerSource: Chicago Bears

2 years agoNew England Patriots wide receiver DeVante Parker caught one of two targets for nine yards in Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Miami Dolphins. He was shut down by star corner Xavien Howard and was limited to one catch in Sunday's loss. Quarterback Mac Jones seemed to favor teammate Jakobi Meyers as he led the team with six targets. New England's offense struggled as a whole and managed just seven points. Parker is the WR1 on the depth chart and will look to bounce back against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.--Brad Camara - RotoBallerSource: Pro Football Focus

2 years agoGreen Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon took 10 carries for 45 yards and a score, adding five receptions for 46 yards, during Sunday's 23-7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Dillon doubled Aaron Jones' carry count and out-targeted him six to five. The entire Packers offense struggled against Minnesota, but Dillon was the lone bright spot for fantasy managers. After out-carrying Aaron Jones last season, Dillon seems poised to lead the backfield in carries again in 2022. With his involvement in the passing game growing, Dillion should carry top 15 upside weekly. The third-year-back has a solid matchup against Chicago next week, and he should be considered a strong RB2 once again.--Ryan Larrison - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

2 years agoCleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt turned in a big game in a 26-24 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. Hunt carried the ball 11 times for 46 yards and a touchdown while adding 24 yards and another score on four receptions. The veteran running back's first score came on a one-yard reception early in the second quarter while he added another score on a 24-yard run later in the second. Hunt's role as the team's third-down back and direct backup to Nick Chubb makes him a bit inconsistent from a fantasy perspective but he remains a solid flex option in PPR fantasy leagues in most weeks. He will be worth a start in fantasy against the New York Jets in Week 2.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

2 years agoChicago Bears wide receiver Dante Pettis caught a 51-yard touchdown in the team's 19-10 win over the 49ers in Week 1. Pettis was left wide open on a broken play and a scrambling Justin Fields found him on the other side of the field for a clear path towards the end zone. The Bears are desperate for someone in their wide receiver room to step up and produce alongside receiver Darnell Mooney. Pettis is not fantasy viable right now but his ability to make big plays should lead to more targets moving forward.--Joey C - RotoBallerSource: Chicago Bears

2 years agoArizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz caught two passes for 14 yards and found the end zone in the team's Week 1 blowout loss. Ertz was questionable all week with a hamstring injury, so it wasn't much of a surprise he failed to produce strong yardage totals in what seemed like a solid matchup and game script. The former Philadelphia Eagle should be able to command a higher target share moving forward, as he got just four looks his way in this one. He can continue to be valued as a TE1 in a Week 2 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.--Tommy Adamopoulos - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoChicago Bears running back David Montgomery carried the ball 17 times for only 26 yards and added 24 receiving yards in the team's 19-10 win over the 49ers in Week 1. Montgomery saw 20 touches in the game but couldn't get anything going beyond the line-of-scrimmage. The fourth-year running back also saw backup Khalil Herbert siphon nine carries away from him, including a rushing touchdown in the second half. The volume will be there moving forward for Montgomery but his production will be put to the test again next week against the Packers in Green Bay.--Joey C - RotoBallerSource: Chicago Bears

2 years agoCleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb carried the ball 22 times for 141 yards while adding a two-yard reception in a 26-24 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. Chubb was his normal, reliable self in the contest, averaging 6.4 yards per carry with a long carry of 25 yards. The only blemish on his afternoon was that Kareem Hunt scored twice while Chubb himself was unable to find the end zone. The touchdowns will come and Chubb will remain a high-quality fantasy running back moving forward. Treat him as a low-end RB1 against the New York Jets in Week 2.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell ran for 41 yards on six carries before exiting with a knee injury in his team's 19-10 loss to the Chicago Bears. The 24-year-old was the Niners' clear No. 1 RB, taking most of the carries in the first half and breaking off two runs for over ten yards. In his absence, WR Deebo Samuel and RB Jeff Wilson Jr. took on increased second half roles, both finishing with over seven carries. Mitchell was seen in a brace after the game. It is unclear how many games he might miss, and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan couldn't add any clarity. If he can return to full health, Mitchell will continue to be elite. Unfortunately, he has not been able to remain healthy for extended periods thus far in his career.--Mitchell Blatt - RotoBallerSource: Nick Wagoner - ESPN

2 years agoArizona Cardinals wide receiver Greg Dortch caught seven passes for 63 yards to lead the Cardinals in receiving in Week 1. He had a team-high nine targets as he filled in for Rondale Moore and could continue to have a sizeable role in the offense for as long as he is sidelined. Dortch could be worth an add in deeper leagues, but fantasy managers shouldn't count on him leading the team in targets moving forward. The 24-year-old will look to build on his solid start in Week 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders.--Tommy Adamopoulos - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoChicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields completed eight of 17 passes for 121 yards with 28 rushing yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the Bears 19-10 victory over the 49ers in Week 1. The Bears offense was putrid in the first half, playing in rain-soaked conditions and on a soggy playing field. But the second-year quarterback was able to find his stride in the second half, creating several explosive plays with his legs and cannon arm. It is unfair to read too much into what this victory means for Fields and Co. moving forward, but the Bears signal-caller displayed some special talent en route to the team's first win of the season.--Joey C - RotoBallerSource: Chicago Bears

2 years agoNew England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (knee) caught four of six targets for 55 yards in Sunday's 20-7 loss to Miami. Dolphins. He led the team in receiving and showed no signs of a knee issue that placed him on the injury report for Week 1. New England's offense struggled to move the ball and looked out of sync in Sunday's loss. The 25-year-old was one of the few bright spots and should continue to rack up the catches as quarterback Mac Jones' top target. Meyers is a flex option in PPR formats in Week 2's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.--Brad Camara - RotoBallerSource: Pro Football Focus
